Porsche’s 911 Turbo Aerokit boosts performance … and attitude

A big rear spoiler has always been part of the Porsche 911 Turbo’s signature look, and with the current 991-generation car Porsche is focusing on aerodynamic performance more than ever.

In addition to the standard car’s clever active aero features, Porsche now offers an Aerokit that pumps up performance and attitude even more.

Marketed through the company’s Porsche Exclusive personalization service, the Aerokit includes a new rear spoiler with side winglets, and a bigger front spoiler with side fins.

Porsche says the new kit doesn’t affect the stock adjustable rear spoiler, which raises or lowers depending on conditions or the selected driving mode. Presumably that goes for the adjustable front spoiler as well.

In fact, the Aerokit is supposed to increase aerodynamic performance. Porsche says it will generate an extra 40 pounds of downforce when the active aerodynamics system is in the most-aggressive “Performance” mode.

That means more grip and more-confident on-track driving, but other performance metrics apparently remains unchanged.

Not that there’s much room for improvement with the stock 911 Turbo’s 0 to 60 mph time of 3.0 seconds and top speed of 195 mph, or the 911 Turbo S’ 2.9 seconds and 197 mph.

Buyers can order the Aerokit for either the 911 Turbo or the hotter Turbo S in either body color or gloss black. When the latter option is selected, Porsche also paints the side skirts, rear air intakes, and engine cover to match, creating a nice contrast with lighter body colors.

The Aerokit can be added to a new-car order for $6,950, or retrofitted to an existing car for $6,886 (installation cost not included). A drop in the bucket, then, compared to the $152,095 base price of a 911 Turbo, or $183,695 starting price of a Turbo S.

Volkswagen’s ID. Unyx 09 doesn’t look like any VW I’ve seen, and I want it in the US
VW's partnership with Xpeng is producing exactly what we hoped.
Bumper, Transportation, Vehicle

I've been watching Volkswagen's China lineup quietly get cooler for the past two years, but the ID. Unyx 09 might be the moment it finally gets exciting, not just for Chinese buyers, but for the rest of the world as well.

Regulatory filings from China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Batch 409, have exposed the full specs of the upcoming sedan ahead of its official launch later this year, and it looks nothing like any VW car I've seen before (via CarNewsChina).

China’s GWM is making a Beetle lookalike EV, and it somehow looks better
GWM upgrades Ora Ballet Cat with 150kW motor and 180km/h top speed
Ora Ballet Cat

The Volkswagen Beetle may be long gone, but one of its most obvious spiritual successors isn't ready to disappear just yet. Chinese automaker Great Wall Motor (GWM) is preparing to relaunch the Ora Ballet Cat, its retro-styled electric hatchback that famously drew comparisons with the iconic Beetle. This time, however, the company is hoping extra performance and a fresh identity will succeed where clever marketing couldn't.

According to a report by Car News China, the latest regulatory filings published in China reveal that the Ora Ballet Cat is receiving a more powerful electric motor, a higher top speed, and could even lose its feline-inspired name altogether. The update arrives as competition in China's EV market reaches new highs, forcing automakers to rethink products that once stood out for style alone.
