Bugatti bows out the Veyron with ‘La Finale,’ the last model it will ever build

Believe it or not, its been 10 whole years since Bugatti launched the Veyron, forever setting new standards of luxury, exclusivity, and performance. It has long since become the benchmark for top speed and now, as it ends its production run, Bugatti will celebrate a decade of changing the game with the premiere of the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse “La Finale,” the 450th and final Veyron.

“The Veyron is a showcase for technology, design and art – in keeping with the Bugatti brand’s values of ’Art, Forme, Technique’,” says Wolfgang Dürheimer, President of Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S. This showcase also brings a high degree of individual exclusivity, and this version is no exception.

This final Veyron will feature a similar, yet distinct black and red two-tone color scheme to that found on the first Veyron chassis. The front wing panels, doors and side intakes are made from black exposed carbon fiber while the rest will be a deep red carbon fiber, something no previous Veyron has featured.

The red and black theme continues to the wheels, where the aluminum hub caps sport a relief of the Bugatti elephant ornament that was designed by the brother of the company’s founder, Remberandt Bugatti. Air scoops and the intercooler color is also black, another Veyron first, contrasted by the EB logo and the “16.4” relief emblazoned in red. These marks pay homage to the automaker’s namesake, Ettore Bugatti as well as mark the 16 cylinders and four turbochargers housed in the engine. If this bespoke treatment didn’t make it stand out enough, “La Finale” is written under the right headlight and on the underside of the rear wing, driving the point home.

Inside, the La Finale is upholstered in a light beige leather, contrasted by a red tone called “hot spur,” which appears on the arm rests, instrument panel and dashboard.  The red carbon fiber from the interior also accents the inside, found on the center tunnel and on other inserts.

“La Finale” embroidery can be found on the head restraints as well as etched in the black carbon fiber door sill strips. Topping off all the unique attributes is the Bugatti elephant cast in bronze and featured on the stowage compartment panel, under which “450/450” is painted in black.

It goes without saying that the Bugatti Veyron La Finale will feature it’s main attraction: the 8.0-liter  W16 engine that packs four turbochargers, 64 valves, and it capable of producing 1,183 horsepower and a staggering 1,106 pound-feet of torque. The power is sent to all four wheels by way of a seven-speed dual-clutch sequential gearbox. All this results in the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse skyrocketing to its record holding 267.8 mph top speed.

Fittingly, chassis number 1 of the Bugatti Veyron will join the La Finale on stage at the Geneva Auto Show this week. Though, this car closes the book on an amazing chapter in supercar history, development is underway for the next mind blowing Bugatti.

“With the next Bugatti model, we are aiming to consolidate and expand the market-leading position we have established with the Veyron,” the Bugatti President Dürheimer states. “Our challenge is to make the best even better.”
