An unofficial O.C. musical is officially happening, and the one-night-only engagement is just two months away. The O.C. Musical‘s Twitter account recently tweeted the news that a debut date had been set: August 30, 2015. On top of that, fans were assured that they can expect to hear some of the indie rock that was heavily featured on the show, including at least one adapted Death Cab for Cutie number.

According to E! Online, The O.C. Musical will be directed by Jordan Ross and produced by Lindsey Rosin, who were also behind the Cruel Intentions musical, a show even attended by the movie’s original stars. Casting is underway but still not complete. Along with the series’ stars, Seth Cohen, Ryan Atwood, Marissa Cooper, and Summer Roberts, we expect to see the Cohen parents, Sandy and Kirsten, and more family and friends.

When The O.C. aired from 2003-2007, music was a major focus of the hit teen drama. Despite being underage, the characters frequented The Bait Shop, a fictional night club where real-life indie rock bands frequently performed. Guest appearances included The Killers, Modest Mouse, and Death Cab for Cutie. The O.C. Musical will apparently capitalize on this, having Seth Cohen sing some Death Cab.

When the show debuts (and closes) on August 30, it will happen at Sterling’s Upstairs at the Federal Bar in North Hollywood. Not quite the O.C., but Los Angeles County will have to do. Check out the announcement below.

Everything you need to know about Cobra Kai season 6
Johnny and Robby Lawrence cheering in a restaurant in a scene from Cobra Kai season 5.

In 2018, Sony Pictures TV teamed up with YouTube Red to produce Cobra Kai, a sequel series to the hit Karate Kid films from the 1980s. Most notably, both of The Karate Kid's surviving primary stars, Ralph Macchio and William Zabka, signed on to reprise their respective roles as former rivals Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence. The show picked up decades later, as Johnny revived the Cobra Kai dojo to turn his life around and mentor the next generation of martial arts enthusiasts. Daniel took that as a sign to start up his own dojo, and his rivalry with Johnny was born again.

Netflix picked up Cobra Kai after the second season, and the show has become an even bigger hit. Now, Cobra Kai is in production on its sixth and final season, but this series may not be the end of the Miyagi-verse that began in 1984 with The Karate Kid. Here's everything we know about Cobra Kai season 6 to prepare you for the new season.
