New trailer for Netflix’s Ridiculous 6 kicks off a ridiculous Adam Sandler adventure

An over-the-top adventure is coming to Netflix. The streamer released the first trailer for The Ridiculous 6 Tuesday, the first of four exclusive Netflix movies set to star Adam Sandler. Based on the preview, the story will be as ridiculous the title implies — and intentionally so.

The Ridiculous 6 is a comedy set in the Wild West that satirizes westerns, particularly The Magnificent Seven. Unlike the seven gunslingers featured in the 1960 film, The Ridiculous 6’s protagonists aren’t the most talented bunch. Sure, Sandler’s character, Tommy “White Knife” Stockburn, can quickly escape down walls using only his knives, but a less skilled member of the group manages to fall flat on his back. Others also look like liabilities, describing themselves simply as hungry or drunk.

What the group has in common, it turns out, is DNA. The trailer shows the six discovering that they have the same long-lost father, an outlaw named Frank Stockburn (played by Nick Nolte). It’s enough to get them to team up to undertake a dangerous journey to save him.

The comedy boasts a notable cast, including Sandler, Terry Crews, Jorge Garcia, Taylor Lautner, Rob Schneider, and Luke Wilson as the Stockburn brothers. Other members of the ensemble cast include David Spade, Will Forte, Steve Buscemi, Danny Trejo, Whitney Cummings, Norm MacDonald, and more. Even musicians Blake Shelton and Vanilla Ice have roles. Frank Coraci directed the movie and the script was written by Tim Herlihy. Sandler and Allen Covert produced.

The Ridiculous 6 is just the second Netflix original feature film, due almost two months after the release of Beasts of No Nation, starring Idris Elba. The next Netflix-Sandler collaboration is The Do Over, which is set to begin filming in summer 2017.

The Ridiculous 6 hits Netflix on Dec. 11.

Black Adam faces a dire choice in the new trailer
Black Adam looking to the distance while standing proud in Black Adam.

The DC Extended Universe has never needed a Superman more than it does now. What it's gotten is Black Adam. Dwayne Johnson's antihero has powers and strength that are comparable to the Man of Steel's abilities. They may even be greater than Superman's gifts. But the thing that makes Black Adam so dangerous is that he lacks the moral compass of a hero. And he absolutely does not hold back in the newly released trailer for Black Adam. The only question now is will Black Adam use his powers to save this world from itself? Or will he destroy it instead?

DC debuts new Black Adam and Shazam! Fury of the Gods trailers
Black Adam walks away from an explosion in Black Adam.

After lying dormant for nearly a year, the DCEU has stormed back into pop culture consciousness. At this year's San Diego Comic-Con, Warner Bros. took advantage of its prime Hall H real estate and brought out the cast and directors of two of 2022's most highly anticipated movies of the year.

The first one up is Shazam! Fury of the Gods. A sequel to the 2019 hit, Shazam 2 brings back Zachary Levi as everyone's favorite teenage superhero not named Miles Morales or Ms. Marvel's Kamala Khan, Billy Batson. He's joined by his foster brothers and sisters, who, if you remember, turned into their own versions of Shazam at the end of that film.
