Brew French press-quality coffee on the go with the Pascal Press

Every coffee lover faces the same dilemma: Do you take a few extra minutes each morning to enjoy a tasty cup of fresh-brewed coffee, or do you risk the quality degradation of putting your joe in a travel mug to avoid being late for work? Well, thanks to a new travel mug/coffee brewer called the Pascal Press, this quandary can easily become a thing of the past. Officially launching via the popular crowdfunding site Kickstarter this week, the Pascal Press aims to deliver quality coffee that stays deliciously fresh even on the go.

Hailing from mechanical engineer and thermofluids engineering master’s student Alan Kalbfleish, the Pascal Press is one of the most unique devices the coffee industry has ever seen. Its innovative design allows for a full immersion and pressure brewing process that produces smooth, non-bitter coffee in as little as 60 seconds. Additionally, the mug was built to isolate any used coffee grounds from the resulting brew to avoid over-brewing.

“Pascal Press will appeal to coffee aficionados who can’t part with the superior hand-pressed, pressure brewing method, as well as active outdoor fans who strive for great coffee on the trail,” the Kickstarter press release stated. “Pascal Press will give every active person a great hassle-free cup of coffee that fits with his or her busy lives.”

Kalbfleish’s Pascal Press also boasts double-wall insulation to help keep coffee hot (or cold) and features a leak-proof lid, so even if it falls on the floor of the car, there’s no need to scramble to grab it off the ground. But what of its competition? While there exist other devices such as the AeroPress or a portable French press, Pascal Press benefits from producing its high-quality coffee from the convenience of just one mug. For coffee lovers continuously on the go, this feature is incredibly helpful.

The Pascal Press launched on Kickstarter Tuesday, June 21, and aims to raise just over $39,000 in order to begin full-scale production later in 2016.

The Narwal Freo X Plus is an entry-level robot vacuum loaded with premium features
The Freo X Plus vacuuming pet hair.

Narwal launched the Freo X Ultra earlier this year, and we found it to be an exceptional robot vacuum and mop combo -- though its $1,400 price tag made it a luxury item for most shoppers. Thankfully, many of the Freo X Ultra's best features can be found on the newly launched Narwal Freo X Plus, which offers an affordable alternative to the flagship vacuum and mop combo.

The Freo X Plus should be much more appealing to frugal shoppers, as it clocks in at just $400. That's a full $1,000 cheaper than the Ultra, yet it still holds up to seven weeks of dust, can lift its mopping plate when traveling on carpet, and produces up to 7,800 Pa of suction to pull out dirt and debris from your carpets. It can even apply 6 Newton units of downward pressure while mopping, allowing it to tackle tough stains with ease.
