Storage and peripheral maker LaCie had introduced its LaCinema Classic HD, a new high-definition multimedia player with broad format support, ample storage, 1080p and Dolby digital audio, plus DLNA and UPnP support for bringing media from an existing home network to an HDTV. Plus, the unit packs both Ethernet and Wi-Fi to ensure easy connectivity anywhere in the house.

“LaCinema Classic HD is all you need to store, play and share your movies, music and photos at home,” said LaCie’s digital home product manager Salem Tirane, in a statement. “We believe organizing and playing should be simple for everyone, without concern for media compatibility or how to access media, no matter where it’s stored in your home,”

The LaCinema Classic HD can act as a DLNA media player, enabling users to load media from Macs or PCs on their home network; the LaCinema Classic HD can also act as a DLNA media server that can stream content to devices like Sony’s PlayStation 3 and Microsoft’s Xbox 360 elsewhere in the home.

The LaCinema Classic HD is available with up to 2 TB of storage, and features broad format compatibility, including DivX and MKV H.264 video, all pushed out via an HDMI 1.3 connection. The device also sports a front-mounted USB port for quickly hooking up digital cameras and other USB media to put content on a big screen, plus a remote control.

The LaCinema Classic HD is available now for a suggested price of $249.99 for the 1 TB model.

AMD’s next-gen CPUs are much closer than we thought
AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D held between fingertips.

We already knew that AMD would launch its Zen 5 CPUs this year, but recent motherboard updates hint that a release is imminent. Both MSI and Asus have released updates for their 600-series motherboards that explicitly add support for "next-generation AMD Ryzen processors," setting the stage for AMD's next-gen CPUs.

This saga started a few days ago when hardware leaker 9550pro spotted an MSI BIOS update, which they shared on X (formerly Twitter). Since then, Asus has followed suit with BIOS updates of its own featuring a new AMD Generic Encapsulated Software Architecture (AGESA) -- the firmware responsible for starting the CPU -- that brings support for next-gen CPUs (spotted by VideoCardz).
