Apple is looking at many options for the upcoming iPhone 8

Pieces of Eight

It’s Monday, November 28th, and let’s hop right into the latest iPhone 8 new, or news/rumors. According to Business Insider, Apple has more than ten different iPhone 8 test mules on their workbenches. Why so many iPhone 8 prototypes? Well, 2017 marks the 10-year anniversary of the first iPhone, introduced by late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs back in 2007.

And as the smartphone technology race continues to escalate, Apple is finding itself in the unusual position of also-ran as other companies push the pace of innovation with curved 4K screens, bigger batteries, higher-spec cameras and so on. Apple’s iPhone 7 and 7 plus are hot sellers, but more and more, it looks like the iPhone 8 will be a major revamp for the iconic device, with the top-tier phone possibly featuring a curved OLED screen.

Whatever happens, 2017 will be an interesting year for the smartphone market, as Apple’s competitors will certainly try to one-up a company known to take tech to the next level. And that’s going to be fun for everyone.

Suddenly, CNN gets a lot more interesting

YouTube fixture Casey Neistat, that guy that’s always doing crazy stuff while rocking sunglasses and a t-shirt, has an odd new home for his video shenanigans and his social video app: CNN.

The app is called Beme (“beam”), and it’s basically a short video sharing app sort of like Vine and such. CNN has bought the app and brought crazy Casey into the fold, where he’ll be the new White House correspondent. OK, no, he won’t, but he will be in-house at CNN doing something that will hopefully bring the network some millennial eyeballs. As for Beam, it’s gotten a recent refresh so maybe check it out.

iPhone 12 Magsafe accessories are coming, all made to keep you buying iPhones
iPhone and MagSafe

We shouldn’t fall into the easy trap of passing the new MagSafe for iPhone technology off as merely a branding exercise dripping in nostalgia to titillate long-term Mac fans. There are two reasons why. First, it may become one of the most interesting and innovative “Made for iPhone” official accessory ranges we’ve seen since the beginning of the program itself.

Second, we should also remember it’s the latest weapon in Apple’s ecosystem arsenal, designed specifically to keep you buying the iPhone for years to come, possibly including one of the most controversial rumored iPhones on the horizon.
What is MagSafe for iPhone?
What does MagSafe do? It’s a new way for chargers and accessories to attach and talk to your iPhone. The simplest accessory is Apple's own MagSafe Wireless Charger, a $39 charging plate that looks a bit like a thinner, oversized Apple Watch charging plinth. It uses magnets to clamp itself tightly against the back of the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro models, securely keeping it in place for accurate charger positioning.
