E3 2011 trailer: Assassin’s Creed Revelations

With a series as deep and intricate in terms of storytelling as the Assassin’s Creed series, it would be easy to go on and on about the details about the upcoming game. Instead, you should just watch the trailer, which is easily among the best clips out of E3 this year.

No gameplay is shown, but it is enough to highlight the return of Altair, as Ezio–much older than inBrotherhood–returns to Masyaf, the original home of the assassins’ guild. But the method of Ezio’s arrival is far from ideal.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows: release date, trailers, gameplay, and more
The two heroes of Assassin's Creed Shadows stand side by side.

We've been asking for it ever since the series debut, and now we're finally getting an Assassin's Creed game set in feudal Japan. Previously known by the code name Assassin's Creed Red, Assassin's Creed Shadows will be the latest entry in the long-running Assassin's saga and will now be competing directly with Ghost of Yotei, as well as other heavy-hitting games in February like Monster Hunter Wilds. That said, of all the upcoming video games, an AC game set in Japan is likely going to be one of the most anticipated upcoming PS5 games and upcoming Xbox Series X games. Ubisoft let us know we would be getting the world premiere trailer first, but it turns out there was a lot more to show than just a first glimpse at the game. We've managed to gather all the footage and information shared online to deliver you the goods about Assassin's Creed Shadows.

Sorry, Nintendo fans, but you won't be able to partake in this Assassin's Creed game, but there are still plenty of upcoming Switch games to be excited for.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ blend of old and new is a recipe for success
Yasuke in Assassin's Creed Shadows fighting an enemy. He's dressed in his samurai armor.

Assassin's Creed Shadows was officially revealed a couple of weeks ago in a beefy cinematic trailer showing off its dual protagonists, Yasuke and Naoe. It's a big moment for fans of the series, as Shadows is finally the Feudal Japan Assassin's Creed game fans have been asking for since it was teased back in the very first entry in the franchise in 2007.

Does it live up to that long wait? Ahead of today's Ubisoft Forward stream, I saw an extended gameplay presentation for Assassin's Creed Shadows that gave me a much better sense of what to expect this fall. The team behind it is looking to blend newer series entries like Valhalla, Odyssey, and Origins into the more traditional Assassin's Creed titles from over a decade ago. And that seems like it could be a winning formula.
Out of the shadows
During the presentation, I saw both of Shadows' playable characters in action -- and they're quite different from one another. Yasuke's Samurai stature and hulking physique command respect from villagers when he walks by. They bow to him, move out of his way, and clearly show signs of admiration. His combat skills also match this, giving him access to actions like a shoulder charge to break down doors or knock enemies off balance.

State of Decay 3 reemerges with a new trailer, but no release date
State of Decay 3 zombie.

During the June 2024 Xbox Games Showcase, Undead Labs showed off a new trailer for State of Decay 3. While the trailer didn't reveal a release date, it did show some new gameplay. The studio also has a new logo, representing its transition from being an indie studio to an Xbox one.

The trailer shows a desolate world filled with zombies and third-person shooter gameplay. The atmosphere feels much more fantastical and supernatural with its red hues, and is akin to Redfall rather than games with a more realistic tone like The Last of Us or Days Gone.
