Mass Effect 2 available for PS3 today

It is a good day for PlayStation 3 users. Mass Effect 2 was easily one of the best games released last year for the Xbox 360, and is arguably one of the best games ever made for the system. Actually, scratch that, it isn’t even arguably one of the best games on the 360, it is one without question.  And while it has so far only been able to be enjoyed by PC and 360 gamers as it went on to win over 120 awards (including several game of the year honors), PS3 fans will now have the opportunity to play one of the best titles around.

Despite that pesky number “2” after the title, Mass Effect 2 will be a good starting point for fans that want to play the trilogy–or at least the 2nd and 3rd parts of it. While the first game was generally well received, it was also somewhat forgettable, and mostly served as a primer for the second part, when the series hit its stride. Now PS3 fans can see what all the talk has been about.

Due out today on the PS3, Mass Effect 2 will also include the bonus DLCs that Xbox 360 users had to pay for (not that we’re bitter about that) Kasumi: Stolen Memories, “Overlord”, and “Lair of the Shadow Broker”. PS3 users will also gain exclusive access to the interactive comic, Mass Effect Genesis as part of the Cerberus pack that includes additional weapons.

Mass Effect 2 is out now on the PS3 for $59.99.

Sifting through all the old PS3 games can feel overwhelming, but if you’re trying to figure out which games are still worth your time, we’ve compiled a list of recommendations. We've also gathered a list of the best PS1 games and PS2 games for the sake of nostalgia.

Everything we know about Mass Effect 4
MASS EFFECT 4 Trailer 2

We only just got confirmation that Mass Effect 4 even exists at last year's Game Awards, but the short trailer was more than enough to inspire a lot of hope, as well as questions, for fans of the series. The original trilogy was one of the most ambitious trilogies of that generation and managed to grow a massive fanbase for a new franchise. The final game's conclusion, regardless of how divisive it was among gamers, was a fairly conclusive wrap up to that entire universe. Since then BioWare has put out another spin-off entry in the form of Mass Effect: Andromeda. This title had a lot to live up to and, bugs and glitches aside, didn't satisfy many of the fans who adored the deep sci-fi lore, intricate character relationships, and meaningful choices found in the first three games.

We only have the one trailer to work off of so far, but here is everything we've been able to piece together about Mass Effect 4.
