Fi, the sword spirit who guides Link through Skyward Sword, gets some love in the form of a new Hyrule Warriors gameplay trailer on developer Koei Tecmo’s official YouTube channel. She moves gracefully through swarms of enemies, pirouetting as rings of energy lash out at the enemy hordes. She even has the ability to turn into the Goddess Sword to clear a large group of baddies.

For those who are unfamiliar with Fi, she is a spirit who resides in the Goddess Sword, a blade created by the goddess Hylia to assist the chosen hero (Link) in his quest to defeat Demise, the demon king and main antagonist of Skyward Sword. In the tradition of partner characters appearing in Zelda games (since Ocarina of Time), she provides Link with hints throughout the game, but also proves to be an integral part of the plot. Fi joins the cast of already announced Hyrule warriors Link, Zelda, Impa, Midna, Agitha, and Lana.

The trailer also details some of the juicy pre-orders available, including the “premium box” which features a triforce alarm clock, and the “courage” and “knowledge” DLC costumes. Better than that is the “treasure box” set which features the premium tier goods and adds the “power” DLC costume, a “hero scarf” and a treasure chest that plays the legendary ‘found an item’ fanfare. Unfortunately, these bonuses are only available in Japan. If this kind of content was included in North American preorders, the world would be a much better place.

Excitement for Hyrule Warriors is building as the game approaches its release date. The game will be available for Wii U in North America on Septemeber 26.

The 2026 ROG Strix G18 pairs up to RTX 5080 graphics with an Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus CPU
ROG Strix G18 (2026) laptop

Asus has started rolling out the 2026 ROG Strix G18 globally, and the easiest way to describe it is as a slightly toned-down version of the ridiculous ROG Strix Scar 18. It keeps the same 24-core Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus processor but tops out at an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 Laptop GPU instead of the Scar’s RTX 5090. (via Notebookcheck)

Dualsense PS5 controller in hand

For a company that’s already given us adaptive triggers, haptic feedback, and replaceable thumbsticks, Sony apparently isn’t done experimenting with the humble controller. A newly published PlayStation patent reveals that the company is exploring a modular controller featuring a detachable touchscreen, magnetic components, and a rotating navigation dial. While there’s no guarantee it’ll ever become a real product, it’s certainly one of Sony’s more ambitious controller concepts yet.

A DualSense… but far more modular
