Oppo Digital has taken the wraps off its new DV-983H up-converting DVD player, ensconcing it at the high-end of their line. The DV-983H is also the last upscaling DVD player the company plans to make before (presumably) focusing completely on Blu-ray technology.

"We’ve leveraged our years of experience in up-converting technology, not to mention the latest innovations from leading video and audio partners, to release our most powerful, highest-performing player yet," said Oppo Digital’s VP of product development Jason Liao, in a statement. "Home theater enthusiasts can enjoy their DVD and music collections at a whole new level with the DV-983H before investing in an entirely new Blu-Ray library."

The 983H sports Anchor Bay’s latest VRS (Video Reference Series) technology with precision de-interlacing, progressive cadence, and AutoCUE-C technologies, along with video scaling, aspect ratio control, zooming, and frame rate conversion. The units also offer full 1080p up-conversion, support for DVD-Audio, Super Audio CD, and DVD-Video universal playback, 7.1 audio with Dolby Surround EX decoding along with USB 2.0, RS 232, and IR in/out. To connect with existing TVs and A/V receivers, the 983H offers HDMI output, along with component, composite, and S-Video; on the audio front, users can select between S/PDIF coax and optical outputs along with a group of 8 analog RCA connectors. The 938H also supports Kodak Picture CDs, Windows Media Audio and a variety of other CD and DVD recordable formats.

The DV-938H is available today for $399 from the Oppo Digital site and authorized resellers.
