Westinghouse Shipping TX-Series LCD HDTVs

Just in time for the Cedia expo, Westinghouse Digital Electronics is now shipping its TX-series LCD high-definition televisions in 42-inch, 47-inch, and 52-inch sizes. Aiming at the high-end home theater market, the displays offer an integrated ATSC/NTSC/ClearQAM tuner and a bevy of connectivity options, including four HDMI inputs, two component ins, along with composite, S-Video, and VGA input.

"Westinghouse Digital has a long standing history of providing the highest quality LCD HDTVs to consumers and our new TX Series and full family of Pro AV models further that tradition," states marketing VP Rey Roque, in a statement. "Westinghouse Digital provides the CEDIA and custom installation markets the same commitment to excellence as with our consumer displays and has tailored and designed our technology and LCD HDTVs to meet the unique needs of these growing market segments."

The TX series displays offer 1080p resolution out of all HD-capable connectors, intelligent cable management, DayBright technology for optimum daytime or nighttime viewing, and circuitry which automatically turns the TV on when it detects an external video source. The sets incorporate the high-performance Trident chipset for fast image processing.

The 42- and 47-inchers have been shipping since June, but the 52-inch model is new to the retail channel with a $2,999 price tag; the 42-inch and 47-inch versions go for $1,599 and $1,799 respectively.

The LG 97-inch Signature OLED M3 4K TV and Zero Connect box.

Digital Trends has acquired suggested U.S. pricing information for LG's new M-Series wireless OLED TVs. Three sizes are available for the so-called M3 OLED model, ranging from 77 to 97 inches. Exact availability dates have not yet been determined, but LG has told me that orders are expected to open in late August 2023.

The new M-Series, a wireless version of LG's popular gallery series G3 OLED TV, commands a premium of anywhere from $500 to $1500 over the G3, depending on the screen size of the OLED TV. Here's how the pricing breaks down:

LG’s M-Series Wireless OLED TV is the future we need
Lg M-Series OLED

While LG has a solid track record of bringing its innovative tech to market so folks can actually buy it, a lot of what we see at CES is vaporware. This stuff is exciting to see amid the mayhem of the world’s biggest tech show, but then, all too often -- poof -- it’s gone, never to be seen again. That being the case, I tend to hold my excitement at bay until a product is in my hands for review.

And so I must confess, I forgot all about the M–Series wireless TV that LG showed me at CES earlier this year. That was a mistake because the wireless signal transmission LG has cooked up for its new TV series has broad implications for the future of TV, and we should be talking about it.
