WiMax networks like Sprint’s XOHM may be just now struggling to finally lift off the ground in the United States, but in the mean time Motorola has broadened its line of WiMax devices with the introduction of a new USB WiMax modem. The Motorola USBw 100 boasts easy connectivity with any laptop, along with multiple antennas to boost signal.

The adapter comes in 2.3GHz, 2.5GHz, and 3.5Ghz flavors, the three frequencies approved for WiMax use around the world – although each adapter only handle ones frequency, so customers need to know ahead of time which one they plan on using. Motorola also claims the adapter’s multiple-antenna setup will help to improve signal (and consequently connection speeds) in indoor areas where interference can pose a problem for other adapters.

Though Motorola has announced that the adapter will launch in the fourth quarter, it hasn’t yet attached a price to the device, which will likely be sold through different networks and discounted with service contracts.
