The new Star Wars trailer and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia make for a fun mashup

Star Wars - The Dayman Awakens
The song The Dayman was funny as part of the musical performed in the season-four finale of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and it turns out that it’s also funny as the soundtrack to the final Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer. YouTube user Brown Moses recently uploaded the mashup video, calling it Star Wars — The Dayman Awakens.

Even for those who don’t watch the FXX comedy, which stars Danny DeVito, Charlie Day, Glenn Howerton, and more, The Dayman is a bizarre enough song to make an interesting juxtaposition with, well, anything. The Force Awakens is no exception. There’s something amusing about watching stormtroopers run around to lyrics like, “They locked me in a world of darkness without your sexy hands, and I miss you Nightman,” and “You’re a master of karate and friendship for everyone.”

Fans of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia may remember the song from the season-four finale, The Nightman Cometh. In the episode, Charlie (played by Day) writes a musical based on an song he composed in season three. The entire gang is roped into performing it as part of Charlie’s secret plan to propose to the waitress.

The hilarious song has spawned other mashups as well. In fact, Brown Moses credits user Bryan Lynas‘ video Dayman v Knightman Teaser Trailer as inspiring his work. Like Star Wars — The Dayman Awakens, the mashup uses The Dayman as its soundtrack, pairing it with the trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Although the Star Wars: The Force Awakens mashup won’t make the theatrical release of the highly anticipated film come any sooner, it does make waiting a little more bearable. The seventh installment in the franchise, The Force Awakens is set to open in theaters on December 18.
