Watch some of the new Star Wars stars react to seeing The Force Awakens trailer

The arrival of a new trailer for Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens has been cause for much celebration in the last 24 hours or so, but the cheers weren’t reserved for just fans — even the cast of the highly-anticipated film got a little excited.

In a new pair of videos posted on Instagram, The Force Awakens stars Daisy Ridley and John Boyega each allowed themselves to be filmed while watching the new trailer for The Force Awakens, and their reactions were, well … you’ll have to watch the videos for yourselves.

Ridley’s video reaction was closely followed by that of her co-star, Boyega, who plays a character named Finn in the film and also features prominently in the trailer — particularly in a scene that has him wielding a lightsaber against a character believed to be Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren.

Set 30 years after the events of Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi, The Force Awakens features a new generation of swashbuckling heroes and shadowy villains, as well as the return of fan-favorite smugglers, princesses, and Jedi. Along with introducing a new generation of characters to the Star Wars universe, the film will bring back some very familiar faces as well.

The cast of returning actors includes Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels, and Peter Mayhew, and they’re joined by Ridley, Boyega, and more franchise newcomers who include Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max Von Sydow.

The Force Awakens is directed by J.J. Abrams from a screenplay penned by Abrams, Lawrence Kasdan, and Michael Arndt.

Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens hits theaters December 18, 2015.
