Everything you need to know about the Huawei Honor V9

It's official: Huawei unveils Honor V9, a phone with flagship specs, midrange price

After multiple leaks, the Huawei Honor V9 is finally official. Huawei unveiled the device on Tuesday, February 21, and also confirmed that it will indeed be headed to China.

The phone is most certainly an exciting release. Sure, it’s not the best phone in the world, but it certainly could be close to the best for the price. In fact, the phone offers what are almost flagship specs for the price of a midrange phone. Unfortunately we don’t yet know when it will be available in the U.S.

So what does the new device have to offer? For starters, it boasts a 5.7-inch QHD display, as well as microSD support and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. Under the hood things only get better — the device offers a Kirin 960 processor with options for either 4GB and 6GB of RAM and either 64GB or 128GB of storage. It also has a dual rear-facing camera and ships with Android Nougat. Not bad at all.

Based on the images we’ve seen of the phone so far, the device will come in blue, black, red, and a white/gold option. It’s not yet know if all of the color options will be available in each market.

Of course, the best part about the device is not what it has to offer, it’s what it has to offer for the price. Chinese retailers have listed the phone at a starting price of between 2,999 Yuan and 3,499 Yuan, depending on the storage and RAM configuration. That equates to between $435 and $500 — which is a pretty great deal for what you’ll be getting.

It’s not the only phone that offers amazing specs for the price — the device’s main competition in that regard is the OnePlus 3T. Once the Honor V9 makes it to the U.S., it will be interesting to see if great specs are enough to put it on the radar of U.S. buyers. We’ll likely hear more about the phone’s price and availability at MWC.

The next time you subscribe to a service or make an in-app purchase on Android, you may not use Google Play's billing system. Starting June 30, developers in the US, UK, and Europe will be able to offer expanded payment options for digital purchases on the Google Play Store. That means some apps could begin directing users to their own websites or offering alternative checkout systems instead of relying entirely on Google Play Billing.

iPhone 18 Pro might not cost a bomb, after all, but I’d still remain cautious
J.P. Morgan says the iPhone 18 Pro price hike may be smaller than feared
iPhone 17 Pro

Last week, Tim Cook made it clear that Apple hardware prices, including iPhones, are likely heading higher because the company is running out of ways to absorb rising costs. The biggest pressure point is memory, with RAM and storage prices climbing sharply across the tech industry.

That has raised fears that the iPhone 18 Pro could see a dramatic price jump. However, new research from J.P. Morgan points to a less frightening outcome. According to a screenshot of the firm’s estimates shared by Max Weinbach on X, Apple may be able to offset part of the memory hit through savings in other areas.
