New leak reveals a deca-core processor for the Meizu MX6 smartphone

After weeks of speculation, venerable Chinese smartphone maker Meizu used a July 19 event to take the wraps off its latest creation. It’s called the Meizu MX6, and it’s the spiritual successor to last year’s Meizu Pro 6.

The MX6’s hardware, as revealed last week by Geekbench and Antutu benchmarks, is decidedly on the high end. The phone has 4GB of RAM and a MediaTek deca-core (yes, that’s 10 cores) Helio X20 processor. And it packs a 5.5-inch 1,920 x 1080p display, as well as 32GB of internal storage and USB Type-C connectivity.

So what else does the MX6 offer? A 12MP front-facing Sony sensor with a f/2.0 aperture, phase-detection autofocus, and dual-tone flash, for one, plus a 5MP front-facing camera. On top of that, the device sports a fairly hefty 3,060mAh battery with fast-charging capabilities and a dual SIM slot. When it comes to design, the device takes more than a few cues from the Meizu Pro 6, including its color configurations: gold, gray, and silver.

Of course, perhaps the biggest selling point of the phone is its 10-core processor (which has actually featured on another Meizu phone the Pro 6), and it’s certainly not an under-performer. Sure, just because it has a ton of cores doesn’t mean that it’s an amazing processor, but it should be able to handle most tasks you can throw at it. On top of that, the battery is pretty darn huge. At 3,060mAh, it might very well be able to last almost two days on a single charge.

The MX5 will retail in China for $300 starting on July 30. Pre-orders for the handset and both the Loop Jacket, a $15 accessory case with a circular viewfinder, and the LifeMe, a $60 Bluetooth speaker, begin today.

iPhone 18 could get a RAM boost, but only a tiny sliver to run AI chores in iOS 27
A new report suggests the extra memory is aimed at keeping Apple Intelligence running smoothly.
Apple iPhone 17 back

Apple's next iPhone may not get a dramatic RAM upgrade, but it could receive just enough extra memory to keep its growing AI ambitions running smoothly. According to TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the standard iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e are expected to move from 8GB to 9GB of RAM, primarily to support deeper Apple Intelligence integration in iOS 27.

This free iPhone app uses soothing haptics to help you calm down
This iOS app skips accounts and subscriptions, relying on touch alone to help you relax.

Most mindfulness apps want you to create an account, buy subscription, and give a chunk of your attention before they help you unwind. Vän, a new iPhone app from Swiss indie developer Adrian Stanco, is built to be the opposite.

I found the app on Reddit, and the pitch alone made me curious enough to try it. Instead of sounds or endless scrolling, it leans entirely on haptics, the tiny vibrations your phone is already capable of producing. The result is a feeling of calm you get by simply holding your smartphone rather than watching the screen.
