While Verizon was the first to deploy 5G home internet, users complained about their network being small at the time with intermittent connections. T-Mobile, while trailing Verizon with their 5G home internet service, at least launched with “nationwide” service that reached a lot more homes on the initial launch.

Since then, T-Mobile has rolled out several upgrades to their 5G service, in addition to fiber internet service that competes with not only Verizon but other major service providers.

Interested in the T-Mobile 5G home internet service? Here’s everything you need to know.

T-Mobile 5G home internet plans

When T-Mobile originally launched years ago, they essentially had one plan to choose from, which made things really simple for folks; you either got it or you passed. Today, there are three main plans for secondary variations of each. Here’s the breakdown:

  • T-Mobile Rely Plan: Pay $45 a month for the service or $35 a month if you also commit to a T-Mobile voice line. You can also get the plan for as low as $40 a month if you setup autopay.  This is a very basic plan for casual users. The price is locked in for five years, comes with unlimited data and a basic, lower speed 5G Gateway.
  • T-Mobile Amplified Plan: Starts at $65 a month and can be as low as $60 a month with auto pay. You also get unlimited data, a five year price lock on the Rely plan, and in addition to that, you get a higher performing 5G gateway and “advanced cyber security” through their T-Life app.
  • T-Mobile “All-in” Internet Plan: Pay $75 a month or $70 a month with autopay, and get the same 5G gateway as in the Amplified plan, but with the added bonus of a Wi-Fi extender so you get better coverage throughout your home. You also get cybersecurity with this plan, enhanced 24/7 video support from customer service, and free Hulu and Paramount+ (essential) plans included.

What is T-Mobile Tuesdays?

Just like Verizon Perks, T-Mobile is giving offers to their subscribers, only they do it every Tuesday with a new deal. T-Mobile Tuesdays can include discounts on food like pizza from Little Caesars, $5 off movie tickets and a free Slurpee from 7-Eleven each month.

What are T-Mobile 5G Home Internet speeds averaging?

T-Mobile says that most subscribers are averaging between 87 – 318 Mbps, or close to 250 Mbps. After doing some research, we are finding that subscribers are getting inconsistent speeds that depend on time of day to location. Reddit user K3NBLOCK has a great review where they test the 5G home internet speeds over a period of time. They experienced download speeds ranging from 23 Mbps all the way to 331 Mbps, and upload speeds averaging around the 35 Mbps range.

T-Mobile 5G home internet coverage

You can find T-Mobile Home Internet in all 50 states as of this update, but its rolled out on a city-by-city basis which is very typical. Expect to see it rolled out in major  or mid-sized cities rather than rural towns. Make sure to check out T-Mobiles availability checker.

T-Mobile

When we first wrote this article, T-Mobile 5G Home Internet service was available for close to 10 million households in the U.S. but they have since then rolled the service out to more than 50 million according to the company.

T-Mobile Fiber Home Internet plans

In addition to their 5G Home Internet product, T-Mobile has also rolled out fiber internet service with download and upload speeds of 2 gigs.

  • T-Mobile Fiber 2 gig plan: For $110 a month ($90 a month with a voice line) you get unlimited data, download/upload speeds of 2 gigs, no annual contracts, a price lock of 5 years, Wi-Fi 6 router with extenders for your home and T-Mobile Tuesdays perks
  • T-Mobile Fiber Founders Club 2 gig plan: This plan is for first time T-Mobile customers and is a one time deal where you get the 2 gig plan for a one time price of $70 a month with autopay turned on. You also get a price lock of 10 years which is pretty amazing.

While this is an amazing deal, the service is limited to 40 markets across the U.S. currently, with a target goal of 12-15 million households by 2030 – so you will need to check availability to see if you qualify. Reddit has a great thread where people are sharing their experience with the service, the general consensus is that the product is stable and fast. I am eager to be able to try it once it comes to the Portland area.

Galaxy Z Fold 8: Everything we know about Samsung’s wider and shorter foldable
Samsung's widest Fold yet could finally make book-style foldables feel natural.
Rear camera for selfie on Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7.

For most of its existence, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold has solved one problem while creating another. The book-style foldable has let buyers carry a tablet-sized screen in their pocket without actually carrying a tablet. But, through no fault of its own, that came at the cost of a cover screen so tall and narrow that using it one-handed felt unnatural and uncomfortable.

Further, viewing content on the inner screen came with giant black bars at the top and the bottom. Samsung is addressing that with the Galaxy Z Fold 8, which could feature an entirely new form factor. Think shorter, wider, passport-shaped, and a cover screen you can actually type on without contorting your fingers.
