The tablet landscape has changed a lot in recent years. Tablets with 2-in-1 capabilities are becoming more and more popular, and with Microsoft jumping in on the hardware game, you are no longer stuck with just iOS or Android as options. If you want a powerful tablet that runs on Windows, there’s simply no better choice than the Microsoft Surface Pro 6. As an early Black Friday treat, Amazon is dropping its price from $899 down to $695. This Surface deal applies exclusively to the Intel Core i5 variant with 8GB of RAM.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 6 is capable of replacing your old, crusty laptop. Since it runs a full version of Windows 10 Home, you have access to any type of specialized software you might need. It’s got a design that you’ll love to show off coupled with a performance that’s solid enough for an office setting.

A true 2-in-1, the Surface Pro 6 combines the portability of a tablet and the functionalities of a laptop. You have to buy the Type Cover or Surface Pen separately if you want to experience its full potential, but even without those accessories, you’ll be able to enjoy its multitasking power.

What makes this tablet a multitasking beast? It’s all thanks to the eighth-generation Intel Core i5 and 8GB of RAM packed inside. This combo allows you to quickly launch tasks and zip through open applications. Microsoft also got it right in terms of battery, with our review team noting that the Pro 6 is comparable to the 12.9-inch iPad Pro. It can handle a full day of work at the office and can still manage to provide enough power as a tablet on your way home.

The Surface product lineup has a stellar reputation for its stunning displays, and the same can be expected with the Pro 6. Its 12.3-inch screen has one of the best pixel resolutions in the category, managing to deliver visuals that look bright, colorful, and vivid. Contrast is also spectacular which allows for deeper darks and brighter whites. Our review team put it to the test and concluded that its display is in line with premium brands like the Thinkpad, XPS, and MacBook.

Versatile in the uses it can be put to, the Microsoft Surface Pro 6 makes a solid computer for your everyday productivity and entertainment needs. Score the best Windows tablet now for only $695 on Amazon and walk away with $204 in savings.

Apple may host another launch on October 27, with new Macs and an OLED iPad mini expected
Apple’s late-October hardware plans may include a touch-screen MacBook Pro, M6 iMac, and refreshed iPad mini.
Computer, Electronics, Laptop

Apple is reportedly planning to launch a new slate of devices late in October, and this event will focus on Macs, it seems. Earlier today, Apple confirmed that a smart home-focused event is lined up for October 13, which leaves the doors open for another busy event where the company is expected to launch a highly anticipated MacBook Pro overhaul with the touch-sensitive OLED screen, a new iPad, and more computing gear.

“The product launch is scheduled on or around Tuesday, Oct. 27, according to people with knowledge of the matter. The end-of-month announcements will also include versions of the 14-inch MacBook Pro and iMac with M6 chips,” says the report.

Amazon is doing with Android tablets what Apple still won’t do with the iPad
Amazon's new tablets have an idea that other Androids should copy
Amazon Alexa Tablet 12 Pro pen

I did not expect Amazon to be the company that made me reconsider what an Android tablet should actually be. The company's Fire tablets have been quite the opposite of what you'd expect from an Android experience. Despite running on the Android OS, they ran a fork of Android, which pushed users toward Amazon’s own apps and services, and famously shipped without the Google Play Store.

That's not to say they were entirely terrible. In our review of the Fire Max 11, we praised it for its hardware package and overall value. Though its sparse app selection was also one of the biggest things holding it back. Installing Google Play yourself made the tablet dramatically more useful.

Amazon’s new Alexa Tablets let Alexa see your screen and help in real time
From planning a hike to adding events to your calendar, Alexa can now understand what you're looking at and take action without making you start from scratch.
Amazon Alexa tablet On Screen Intelligence

Amazon has launched three new Alexa Tablets, starting at $229.99, and they look like solid devices with aluminum builds and sharp displays. That said, hardware isn't what got me interested. The feature I keep thinking about is On-Screen Intelligence, which gives Alexa the ability to understand what's open on your tablet and help with it.

Why does this matter?
