Bloomberg reported some rumored specs for Apple's iPhone 4G today.

Bloomberg.com reported today that Apple’s new iPhone 4G will include a more advanced camera and may have a touch-sensitive casing. The new iPhone details were provided by Goldman Sachs Group Inc. analyst Robert Chen, who refused to identify the source of his information. Chen also mentioned the latest iPhone will be released by June of this year and that it features some major hardware and software updates.

Bloomberg reported that Chen described the new iPhone as having similar touch-enabled qualities as Apple’s new Magic Mouse which has a touch-sensitive solid plastic shell in replacement of mechanical buttons. The technology may be replicated in the new iPhone to offer touch-sensitive features on the rear of the handset, claims Chen. According to this report the next iPhone will go into production as early as April to be available to consumers by June.

As usual, Apple representatives have “no comment.”

  2. Frequenter at 1:10am 10th April 2010 I like that the new iPhone won't actually have a microphone.

    Sounds swell...

Big ups to Freediverx = all salient points.
  3. freediverx at 6:07am 8th April 2010 Wow, talk about a poorly conceived prediction - at least as far as the mock-up image goes. Next time, Bloomberg, try coming up with a fresh mockup instead of dusting off one that was created two years ago.

    1) Removable Battery
The trend at Apple has been fiercely in the opposite direction. Even their laptops forgo a removable battery

    2) Seamless Metal Case
This would destroy wireless reception. Even if they return to a metal casing, it will need to have a plastic area for the antenna.

    3) Titanium
Titanium is not a pretty metal. It has a dull, grey finish. The last time Apple used titanium (older powerbooks) they ended up painting over it in silver, and months later all those beautiful laptops looked like lepers, with the pain flaking off everywhere. Add to that the higher machining costs due to the metal's hardness.
    Not. Gonna. Happen.

    4) Hard, right angled edges, a la iMac
Yeah, those razor sharp metal edges would sure feel great in your hands, huh?

    5) OLED screen
Very pretty colors in dim lighting. Completely unreadable in daylight. That's kind of important on a phone. Fail.
  4. Jessica From TecheSpot at 6:05am 16th January 2010 Like the features…but… not sexy at all!!! it cant be all Box like it needs to be sleek and smooth like the ipod touches and Iphone 3gs
  5. rahhb_riley at 3:02pm 14th January 2010 Have a Magic Mouse and I enjoy...however I will admit I'm a "Fanboy" (However I never mind letting apple or the "review community" know when a product sucks i.e. aTV) Don't forget that the Magic Mouse "touch" technology is something that developed from the iPhone screen. Theses specs listed in the pic are bogus though. No way is Apple only going to put a 3.2 megapixel camera in the next generation iPhone. I like the "Unibody" look but it wouldn't be titanium. Maybe aluminum. But the case of the Magic Mouse that is "touch sensitive" is plastic, not metal so I'm not sure how that would effect this artistic rendition.
  6. James at 1:43pm 14th January 2010 The Magic Mouse is a huge failure in the review community. I really hope they do not add these features.
