Otterbox is expanding its Universe line a little. The company has announced that it will now be selling versions of its Universe cases for both the iPad Air 2 and the 9.7-inch iPad Pro.

The Universe case is interesting for a number of reasons, but the main one is that it uses a modular design, making it much easier to put on and take off of your device. The case is already available for the iPhone 6, iPhone 6s, iPhone 7, and iPhone 7 Plus.

“The niverse Case System, a CES 2017 Innovation Award honoree, combines trusted OtterBox protection with a modular platform to expand iPhone and iPad features,” said OtterBox in an emailed statement. “On iPad, the Universe case boasts even more connection points, including two slotted rails that connect to a variety of modules, a new center connection point for mounting accessories, and a removable spine where keyboards can be easily attached.”

So why would you want to buy the case? Well, its modular design allows you to quickly and easily attach other accessories to the phone — in fact, a number of those accessories have been announced for the iPad Air 2 and the iPad Pro. For example, the First Healthcare Magnetic Positioning Arm helps you mount the tablet for use hands-free, while the Brydge 9.7 keyboard is a physical keyboard you can attach to your iPad to make typing on the device easier.

There’s no word yet on pricing for the cases, but we’ll likely hear more about that in coming weeks.

You may have to wait a while longer for new iPads
The backs of Apple's iPad Air and iPad Pro, with the tablets place on a table.

Just days ago, the Chinese website IT Home said Apple would announce the launch of its 2024 iPads on Tuesday, March 26. However, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman — who still believes new iPads will arrive this spring — has debunked this rumor. In other words, we'll probably have to wait a little longer for new Apple tablets to arrive.

Gurman had previously stated that Apple's next-generation tablets would arrive in late March or April.  Of the March 26 rumor, Gurman took to X, formerly Twitter, to say it was "not true."

YouTube TV just got even better on iPhones and iPads
Multiview on YouTube TV on an iPad.

If you use the most popular live-streaming service on an iPhone or iPad, things just got even better. YouTube TV — which boasts more than 8 million subscribers — just pushed multiview live on Apple's mobile devices, as previously promised.

It works basically the same way it does on a television. YouTube TV picks the programs available in multiview, and you get them all at once, with audio coming from one of the shows. Tap another, and the audio switches. And just as before, you can get multiview for sports, news, business, or weather. (Though we definitely don't recommend watching four news channels at once in an election year.) It's just in time for March Madness, which is great, though we hope you'll be able to pick your own games instead of just sticking with the multiple viewing options YouTube TV gives. This will be great come fall, though, when the new season of NFL Sunday Ticket takes hold.

This is when Apple will finally release its new 2024 iPads
Apple iPad Pro 11 with Apple Magic Keyboard.

It's been a long time since Apple introduced a new iPad — October 2022, to be precise. In his latest newsletter, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reinforces his belief that Apple will finally reveal new iPads this spring, perhaps as early as the end of this month.

The Apple expert had previously noted that Apple would release new MacBook Airs and iPads at the beginning of the year. The first part of this promise came to fruition earlier this month when Apple revealed the M3 MacBook Air.
