Sony Electronics is jumping on the 3D bandwagon, announcing it’s first 3D capable AV receiver in the form of the STR-DN1010. The DN1010 features 1080/24p support, seven HD inputs, and HDMI 1.4 3D passthrough technology so users can push 3D content through to 3D capable displays.
“By streamlining connectivity and supporting 3D hardware and software, the STR-DN1010 receiver will provide a simplified approach to 3D home theater control and performance, ensuring the best possible user experience,” said Sony’s director for Home Audio and Video Neal Manowitz, in a statement.
The DN1010 features 7.1 audio support with 110 watts per channel, four HDMI and three HD component inputs, and can upscale standard-definition video to 1080p resolution via HDMI. The receiver supports Deep Color and X.v.Color along with all advanced audio codecs (including Dobly TrueHD, dts-HD Master Audio) and can be rigged up to support audio in up to 10 additional rooms via Sony’s S-AIR wireless technology (essentially an S-AIR transmitter and separate speakers). The DN1010 also features a Digital Media Port input for connecting to iPods and other devices.
Sony says the DN1010 will be available in June for about $500. Sony also rolled out three new high-definition A/V receivers—that STR-DH810, STR-DH710, and STR-DH510—that offer HDMO 1.3 support, second-zone audio via S-Air, and either 7.1 (the DH810 and 710) or 5.1 (DH510) audio support. They’ll be available in March at prices ranging from about $230 to $400.
