With Super Bowl LV just around the corner, football fans are thinking about virtual parties, because gathering in sports bars to watch the championship game isn’t a good idea. One idea for holding virtual parties is looking through Amazon Echo deals to buy smart displays, so everyone can see each other while watching the Super Bowl. A good alternative to Echo devices is the Facebook Portal, which is on sale from Amazon with a $62 discount to lower its price to $137, from its original price of $199.

The first-generation version of the Facebook Portal is equipped with a 10.1-inch screen that’s big enough to comfortably see all your friends in the virtual party. It will be easier if everyone owns a Facebook Portal, but you can also call friends on their smartphones and tablets through Messenger, with up to six people in a group call.

Even if you move around the room, such as when grabbing more food from the snack table, you will remain in the frame through the Facebook Portal’s Smart Camera, which follows you wherever you go. For privacy, you can disable the smart display’s camera and microphone with a single tap when you’re not using them, and you can even block the camera lens physically with a camera cover.

The Facebook Portal has Amazon’s Alexa built in, so it can function like an Echo by accepting voice commands for various tasks. The smart display also has the Superframe feature, which displays pictures and videos from your Facebook when you’re not in a call, and can also provide you information such as birthday reminders.

Part of the fun from the Super Bowl is watching the championship game with friends, but since that’s hard to pull off right now, a virtual party with smart displays like the Facebook Portal might be the next best thing. The first-generation Facebook Portal is currently available at $62 off from Amazon, bringing down the smart display’s price to just $137 from its original price of $199. It’s unclear how long the deal will last though, so if you want your virtual party all set in time for Super Bowl LV, you should click that Buy Now button as soon as you can.

I tried to parody the most absurd AI products, but the tech industry beat me to it
The joke was supposed to be that every household object gets cameras, AI insights, and a premium tier. Apparently, that’s now a business plan
Imaginary AI products

I wanted to invent an AI product so silly that no founder could turn it into a seed round.

It had to solve a problem nobody had, collect far more data than the problem deserved, and turn normal behavior into an insight that sounded vaguely disappointed in its owner. Somewhere around the third feature, it would ask for a subscription.
