After years of piling pictures into Facebook, galleries can start to get a little crunched up. And painful to sift through. As part of its attempt to compete with Google’s own impending social networking service, Facebook quietly expanded its photos section to make images even easier to browse with less clicking.
The new photo view no longer breaks down long galleries into individual pages with blocks of photos on each one. Instead, photo thumbnails now tile perpetually down the page, making it easier to browse through a couple dozen photos — or a couple hundred.
Facebook appears to have unceremoniously rolled out the changes last week as part of its larger effort to gear up for an all-out war with Google. VentureBeat reports that Facebook offices are currently on “lockdown,” revamping photos, groups and events to prepare for Google Me.
