Hulu Plus coming to the Xbox 360 tomorrow (with a free trial)

In a further step toward turning the Xbox 360 into an all-in-one home entertainment system system, starting tomorrow, Friday April 29, Hulu will be available to Xbox Live Gold Members. Furthermore, for the first seven days, ending May 6, the service will be free to all; no Xbox Live Gold Membership or signups will be required.

The inclusion of the service ends nearly a year’s worth of negotiations between Microsoft, Hulu and the various companies involved. Hulu joins Netflix, ESPN and the Zune library in offering 360 customers more reasons to ditch their monthly cable service.

Once the initial free period is over, the service will cost $7.99 per month. For that price, users will receive HD video, a fairly sizable library of content and limited commercial interruptions.

It is a similar service to what is currently offered through Hulu on the PlayStation Network—with the exception that the Xbox Live version should be up and running next week.

Living room with Microsoft Xbox Series X (L) and Sony PlayStation 5 home video game consoles alongside a television and soundbar.

The video game console market is about to see its biggest shakeup since Sega stopped producing hardware. Xbox's Phil Spencer says that the company will share a "business update" with players next week outlining a new vision for the brand. That news comes after a month of rumors that claimed that some of Xbox's biggest exclusives would be coming to other platforms, including PS5 and Nintendo Switch. The unconfirmed reports sent Xbox loyalists into a panic as fans brace for a possible future where Xbox just produces software instead of physical consoles.

We don't know what's true yet, as credible reports have been lumped in with speculation. Some details seem plausible, while rumors that Xbox will stop making systems altogether are closer to educated guesses. We'll learn more in Xbox's business update, but until then, we've rounded up a list of every Xbox exclusive that's reportedly going multiplatform. Take it all with a grain of salt until Spencer and company unveil the full picture.

These Activision Blizzard games need to come to Xbox Game Pass this year
Sekiro easy mode mod FromSoftware Souls games gameplay difficulty

In October 2023, Microsoft completed its acquisition of Activision Blizzard, and by the end of the year, the latter company's CEO had departed. Now, this will be the year where we’ll see how Activision Blizzard functions when fully integrated into Microsoft. The most immediate change for those who play games will likely be Activision Blizzard titles coming to Xbox Game Pass, Microsoft’s subscription service.

Microsoft and Activision have explained that because of the tribulations the acquisition encountered, it was impossible to have Xbox Game Pass additions prepared almost immediately after the acquisition, as it did with ZeniMax Media. In the coming months, I expect we’ll finally start to see Activision Blizzard games trickle onto the service, even if we shouldn't expect it from this week's Developer_Direct. As Activision Blizzard is one of the oldest game publishers out there, having released hundreds of games, there are plenty of titles to choose from. I’ve cherry-picked the ones I want to see most.
