CEDIA is not your typical electronics expo, and that’s a really good thing. CEDIA is a show built for the people who put the coolest technology on the planet into real people’s homes. The show is aimed at professional installers and custom integrators with the smarts and the know-how needed to take a thousand little parts, get them all talking to each other, and make everything work like magic.

At CEDIA, you won’t find multiple rows of vendors showing off a million different iPad cases, or the 6.3-inch version of the 6.1-inch Phablet that was just launched two months ago. What you will find are weather-proof HDTV’s that can take a beating, 4K video walls, the latest high-performance A/V components, and some of the craziest home entertainment stuff you’ve never heard of.

That’s why Digital Trends is in Denver, Colorado, for CEDIA 2013, which kicks off today. We’re going to get you up close and personal with the technologies that are designed to make your life easier and a whole lot more fun. This year, we expect some big news and new products from the likes of Sony, Bang and Olufsen, Sunbrite TV, Paradigm, JVC, and LG. Plan to see a lot of 4K everything, the newest A/V receivers, more sound bars than you can shake a stick at, wireless audio systems, and the latest in whole-home control (we’re pretty sure tablets and smart phones will be involved).

Check back later today for our coverage of the CEDIA Media Preview event, where we’ll get an early look at the things to come later this week.

Sony and Onkyo AV Receivers get huge price cuts from Walmart
walmart AV receiver deals

With movie ticket prices becoming increasingly expensive and modern 4K TVs being more affordable than ever, there has never been a better time to set up your own home theater. A good Ultra HD smart television paired with an immersive surround sound speaker setup lets you bring the theater right into your living room. If you’re looking to build one, then a good AV receiver is where you should start.

An AV receiver serves as the heart of your wider home theater system, connecting everything together while providing the power channels necessary for all of your speakers and a subwoofer or two, as well as hookups for all of your various input devices (Blu-Ray players, gaming consoles, record players, and so forth). Today’s AV receivers are quite affordable, too, so setting up a home theater system is no longer something that’s only within the reach of wealthy enthusiasts; to help you get started, we’ve sniffed out a couple of deals on some great entry-level brand-name AV receivers available on Walmart right now.

Disney Plus Free Trial: Can you stream for free in 2024?
Disney+ app on the iPad Air 5.

There is currently no Disney Plus free trial. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. In fact, there hasn't been a Disney Plus free trial for many years. But all is not lost. While you can't get Disney Plus for free, there are quite a few very cheap options. We list all of the tiers and options below: Everything from the $8 ad-supported tier to the $25 Disney Bundle Trio, which includes ad-free Disney Plus, ad-free Hulu and ESPN+. Occasionally Disney has a deal that gets you three months for $6 total, but that's not available right now. We'll keep you updated if it ever comes back.

The best and most reliable way to save is through the Disney Bundle, which sees ESPN Plus and Hulu thrown in for just $15 a month. On their own, Disney Plus is normally $8 per month, Hulu is $8, and ESPN is $10, so this is a great deal.  If it sounds good to you, you should start your subscription now. The price of the Disney Bundle increased to $15 on October 12, 2023.
