Sol Republic announced today the release of its latest headphone model, the Master Tracks XC. Employing a newly developed “Sound Engine” tuned by Scottish DJ and multi-platinum songwriter, Calvin Harris, the Master Tracks XC is Sol Republic’s most ambitious offering to date, blending the company’s stylish, virtually indestructible blueprint with a sound crafted for  “both the producer and the passionate music lover” alike.

Like its predecessors, the new headphones utilize Sol Republic’s interchangeable ear cup design, allowing the earpieces to easily slideMTXC Calvin Harris web res edit on and off of their high strength-polymer headband for use with any Sol Republic headband. But, the company is hoping its new flagship model will be more than just a stylish pair of daily commuters, promising a new level of clarity, power, and precision to catapult them into the realm of elite cans.

The headphones come with dual removable cables, including an MFI apple-certified cable with an attached 3-button mic piece, and a 6-foot long coiled DJ-style cable, as well as glow-in-the dark channel indicators on the ear cups for use in dark clubs and studio sessions.

We enjoyed Sol Republic’s last offering, the Master Tracks, and while we’re always a little wary about celebrity endorsed models, if the XC can expand on the company’s already impressive sound and style, it could emerge as an excellent option for those looking for hi-fi audio in a durable package.

The Sol Republic Master Tracks XC are priced at $250, and will be available some time this month. We hope to have a pair in our hands sooner than later, so we’ll let you know what we think as soon as we have a chance to give them a test drive.

Sonos headphones likely revealed in website slip-up
A possible leaked image of the unreleased Sonos headphones.

Sonos can't catch a break. It seems that almost every time the brand has geared up for a new product launch, someone has beaten it to the punch, leaking most of the key information beforehand. This time, the victim appears to be Sonos' much-anticipated wireless headphones, and the culprit? A German Sonos parts dealer called Schuurman.

For a brief period -- the page has since been taken down -- Schuurman's site listed the "Sonos Ace" (presumably the name of the new wireless headphones) along with a few photos and perhaps most intriguingly, a price: 403.58 euros (approx. $534), according to the The Verge's Chris Welch. That price is in line with previous rumors.
