Sprint: We’ll Be The First Treo 700p Seller

Sprint today said they were looking to be the first carrier to bring Palm’s new Treo 700p smartphone, which was announced yesterday, to market. Their target date is the end of this month, with a price point of $399.99 after available discounts and promotions.

Sprint’s take on the Treo 700p, said the wireless carrier, is that they expect to be the only provider to offer live TV capabilities- via Sprint TV – over the EvDO compatible smartphone. Additionally, they expect users of the Treo 700p to be able to take advantage of other Sprint specific services such as their mobile broadband network, their personalized news and information offering and support for their picture mail, messaging, games, ringers and screensavers.

“Sprint realizes that every business customer is also a consumer and uses mobility for productivity, social connections, entertainment and news,” said Danny Bowman, vice president of product marketing for Sprint, in a statement. “The Treo 700P is ideal for customers who are looking for a device that provides a combination of power and elegance to satisfy the need for owning a stylish, cutting-edge device while still helping them to be more efficient and productive.”

Android phones may be a lot more expensive in 2025. Here’s why
The back of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, Google Pixel 8 Pro, and Google Pixel 7 Pro.

As if inflation isn’t hitting groceries and the housing market hard enough, your smartphone could also become more expensive in 2025. According to a post on Weibo, the price of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 -- the chip expected to power most 2025 flagship Android phones -- is about to increase significantly, along with the cost of the SM8750 wafer used in its production.

There’s no hard figure on what “significant” means, but even a jump of 10% or 20% could translate to a higher MSRP when it comes time to buy your next Android flagship phone. That said, this isn’t completely certain since price increases during production don’t always get passed on to the consumer.
