Display maker ViewSonic has announced its is shipping a whole host of new LCD displays, including its new VA series of budget-friendly 19-, 20-, and 22-inch VA series of desktop LCD displays, two new 19-inch and 22-inch VX series widescreen displays, and 19- and 22-inch dual use HD TV/PC displays.
First up, the new entries in ViewSonic’s VA series aim to give computer users affordable options for widescreen viewing—or working within tight desktop constraints—without cracking their budgets. "Small and home offices need versatile, yet high-quality options for the multitude of applications they deal with on a day-to-day basis," said Jeff Volpe, ViewSonic’s VP of marketing, in a release. "With these affordable LCD options, customers don’t have to give up quality and clarity because of budget constraints." The 19-inch VA1926w, 20-inch VA2026w, and 22-inch VA2226w offer widescreen aspects, while the 19-inch VA926 goes with a traditional 4:3 aspect ratio for people short on desktop space. Each units offers DVI and VGA inputs, 300 nits of brightness, a 5 ms response time, and a 2,000:1 contrast ratio, with prices of $229, $249, and $279 for the widescreen displays, and $259 for the 19-inch VA926. All are available now.
Next, the 19-inch VX1940w, 22-inch VX2240w, and 19-inch VX1932wm X-series monitors will offer 4,000:1 contrast ratios, response times as short as 2 ms, and 300 nits of brightness, with the first two models offering native resolutions of 1,680 by 1,050 (which ViewSonic claims makes the VX1940w the first 19-inch display with that high a resolution), while the VX1932wm offers a 1,440 by 900 resolution and a 2,000:1 contrast ratio. All three offer DVi and VGA inputs. The VX1940w and VX2240w will land at retailers in November for $249 and $349, respectively, while the VX1932wm will be available in October for $249.
Finally, ViewSonic has also announced its Diamani Duo 19-inch NS1932w and 22-inch NX2232w dual purpose HD TV/LCD displays. Designed to serve as both a computer display and a television display, perhaps for the "other" room like a kitchen, den, or office. "The ways in which consumers are integrating displays into the home are as varied as the households themselves," said Volpe. "The Diamani Duo line allows consumers to save money and gain more features by purchasing a single, dual-purpose display that brings high quality video or computer viewing to any room."
The Diamani Duo displays sport a 2,400:1 dynamic contrast ratio, 5ms response time, 300 nits of brightness, and 160° viewing angles. For inputs, they offer HDMI (with HDCP audio support), VGA, composite, component, and S-Video input, and an ATSC/NTSC/QAM Tuner. The displays don’t support 1080p resolution, capping out at 1,680 by 1,050 pixels (and for some reason topping out at 1,280 by 1024 pixels on Macs—we don’t write the spec sheets, just read them!), but they do offer two five-watt speakers and support VESA wall-mounting options. The 19-inch model carries a suggested retail price of $349, while the larger 22-inch version goes for $399. Both area available now.
