Voodoo Rolls Out Envy M:152 Gaming Notebook

Voodoo Rolls Out Envy M:152 Gaming Notebook

Not much has been heard from formerly-boutique PC maker Voodoo PC since its acquisition last year by leading computer maker Hewlett-Packard, but today HP announced a new gaming notebook sure to get some hearts thumping and fingers twitching: the VoodooPC Envy M:152. The M:152 packs a 1,680 by 1,050-pixel 15.4-inch display, and Nvidia GeForce 8600GT 512 MB graphics controller, and a a Core 2 Extreme X7800 processor at speeds up to 2.4 GHz—all in a package weighing less than 7 pounds.

"People look to Voodoo custom machines to deliver the best in power and design, and we stayed true to that tradition when building this mobile powerhouse," said Rahul Sood, chief technology officer of HP’s Global Gaming Business Unit, in a statement.

The Santa Rosa-powered Envy M:152 also ships with an integrated 2 megapixel Webcam, a fingerprint reader, support for up to 4 GB of RAM, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, gigabit Ethernet, 802.11n Wi-Fi wireless networking, and Voodoo’s famously inventive and outlandish options for case coloring and "tattoo" finishes. Amusingly, the systems appear to ship with Windows XP as a default operating system, with Vista Home Premium and Ultimate available as pre-installed options. Interestingly, no high-def disc options appear to be available.

Prices for the Envy M:152 start at just over $3,300, although with storage upgrades, TV Tuners, bundled games, and (of course) custom paint jobs, the price tag can run quite a lot higher.

Why you should sign up for PureVPN Max Plan
A VPN is a necessity in this digital age because it will protect your data from being accessed by cybercriminals. Razer’s most boring product is also one of its best
The Razer Iskur V2 gaming chair in an office.

Razer isn't exactly known for subtlety. This is the company that released a Bane-like RGB face mask, a headset with haptic feedback, and most recently, a mouse pad that has RGB lighting from corner to corner. The Iskur V2 chair is an exercise in subtlety, however, and a change of pace that pays off for Razer in a big way.

There's nothing special about the Iskur V2 at first glance. It's a gaming chair fit with the usual racer-style back and some green trim to let you know it's a Razer product. But there are no motors promising immersive haptic feedback, and no RGB leaving you tethered to a wall outlet (yes, Razer has done both in a chair before). The Iskur V2 is just a well-designed, comfortable chair, and that's exactly why it's so impressive.
