Samsung Galaxy NotePro 12.2 lands in UK for pre-order

Samsung unveiled a bunch of new tablets at CES earlier this month, among them the super-sized Galaxy NotePro with its whopping great 12.2-inch screen.

UK-based folk keen to get their hands on one of these monsters should head straight over to Samsung’s site, where it’s just gone up for pre-order, with shipments set to start February 4.

Currently it’s the Wi-Fi-only model showing up, complete with a £649 price tag – that’s $1075 on a straight currency exchange, though with the way tech product pricing differs between the two countries, it’s more likely to go for around $800 when it eventually gets a US release.

Perfect for lugging around the house but not so perfect for a crowded commuter train, Samsung’s sizable slate features a 2560 x 1600 display and comes with a Snapdragon 800 processor, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of storage – expandable to 64GB via microSD or microSDHC card.

The Android 4.4 KitKat tablet is powered by an understandably hefty 9500mAh battery, and also sports an 8-megapixel rear camera and 2-megapixel front one. It comes with Samsung’s S Pen, too.

At 204 x 295.6 x 7.95mm, it’s nice and thin, but its 750g weight (1.7 pounds) means you won’t be holding it for too long in one hand, unless you’re looking to give your arm a workout while you surf the Web.

Speaking of multitasking, the NotePro lets you split the screen into four sections so you can overload the senses with an array of content until you realize that perhaps one or two windows work best.

The tablet, which impressed DT editors at CES, is one of the first to launch with Samsung’s new tile-based Magazine UX, a user interface featuring various customizable panels, or, to put it another way, a UI “designed to look like a lovechild between Windows Phone and Flipboard.”

Samsung has yet to make any announcement on a US release date, though we’ll let you know as soon as we get the details.
