When Steven Tyler sang that pink is his favorite color, he probably wasn’t referring to this rumored interchangeable lens camera from Samsung. What’s interesting is how thin this mirrorless camera is – possibly the thinnest ILC available, according to images and specs leaked by a site in Asia called NXRumors. As always, we take this kind of information with a grain of salt until we get official confirmation, but we will say that these rumor sites have done a spot-on job with accuracy.
Like a few of the new mirrorless cameras that have come out recently, a trend seems to be moving toward smaller, lighter, and thinner form factors. According to leaked specs, inside the slim 1.37-inch body is a 20-megapixel, 1-inch back-illuminated CMOS sensor (not APS-C, but still better than a point-and-shoot) and Samsung’s DRIMe 4 image processor, with an ISO range of 160-12,800, 1080/30p video capture, burst mode of 22 frames per second, and 1/16000th of a secon shutter speed. The camera has a tilting 3-inch hVGA LCD that flips up 180 degrees, and will come bundled with 9mm and 9-27mm lenses, with the 9mm lens being only 12mm thick. The rumor site says the camera will use its own lens mount, which means it can’t use Samsung’s growing number of NX lenses, or it would require an adapter.
There’s no mention of pricing, but one site, Mirrorless Rumors, says the camera will debut in less than a month. We’re going to take a guess that it will come in around the $500-$600 range.
