Samsung Projectors Juggle Business, Movies

Samsung Projectors Juggle Business, Movies

Business projectors may be optimized for PowerPoint presentations, spreadsheets and PDFs, but at the end of the day, everyone knows that they’re still going to be firing up a DVD now and then in the downtime. Samsung introduced a line of projectors tailored to both business use and movies on Tuesday with the A400 and D300 data projectors.

To make it usable in brightly lit scenarios, the A400 gets a “high brightness” mode that lets it kick out 2,000 ANSI lumens for maximum visibility in the boardroom, but also sports a “theater mode” that optimizes color and contrast when you’re ready to kick back and watch Mad Max in the hotel room. With less-than-HD WXGA (1280×768) resolution and a 2,500:1 contrast ratio, it’s not going to make your Blu-ray discs look amazing, but should be just fine for standard-def movies and presentations.

The D300 provides more brightness and contrast, but sacrifices resolution and the movie mode. It blasts an impressive 3,000 ANSI lumens with a 3,000:1 contrast ratio at XGA (1024×768) resolution.

Both projectors are available immediately, with the A400 selling for $1099 and the D300 for $999.

Samsung’s new Music Frame smart speaker is essentially $100 off
The front panel of the Samsung Music Frame snaps off so you can swap it out with other artwork.

For a wireless speaker that doubles as an art piece in your bedroom or living room, you should check out the Samsung Music Frame smart speaker. It's available from Best Buy for $400, and every purchase comes with a $100 gift card that you can use on a future Best Buy purchase. That essentially drops the price of the unique device to a more affordable $300, but you better act fast because we're not sure how long this offer will remain available. If you can buy the wireless speaker now, you should probably do so.

Why you should buy the Samsung Music Frame smart speaker
The Samsung Music Frame is a wireless speaker that doubles as an old-fashioned picture frame, so you'll be able to listen to your favorite music while gazing at your photograph or artwork of choice. You have the option of swapping the bezels and the picture whenever you want. Behind the picture are two each of woofers, tweeters, and midrange drivers, which use Samsung's SpaceFit calibration technology to tune themselves according to the acoustics of the room where the Samsung Music Frame is placed. With its compatibility for Dolby Atmos, you'll enjoy rich surround sound.

Samsung S95D OLED first look: a reflection on excellence
Samsung S95D OLED

I recently traveled to New Jersey to visit Samsung for an up-close and personal look at the flagship TVs in its 2024 lineup, which includes Samsung’s 8K Neo-QLED and 4K Neo-QLEDs, and the reason we’re here today: the S95D.

The S95D is Samsung’s flagship OLED TV for 2024, and it has been the subject of some consternation for some TV enthusiasts because it has a new anti-glare or anti-reflective screen coating. Is there any merit to that concern? Has it overshadowed how good this TV could actually be thanks to a new 3rd generation QD-OLED panel? Is it any brighter? Should we be excited about this TV?

Samsung QN900D 8K TV first look: fully loaded flagship
Brilliantly colored traditional dress costumes seen in an arial view displayed on a Samsung QN900D TV.

I just got back from a visit with Samsung in New Jersey, where I got early access to some 2024 TVs. It's a trip I’ve been looking forward to since CES, where, quite frankly, Samsung had so many products to look at and cover at its First Look that it was hard to dive into anything with any real depth.

Today, we’re going to take a closer look at the 2024 Samsung QN900D — Samsung’s flagship 8K TV this year. But before I dive into the TV, let me manage expectations a bit. The good news is I got to measure several TVs during my visit and do a fair bit of subjective analysis, so I have some things to say about picture quality for each model that I'll cover over the coming days. Still, I only got a few hours with the TVs, so these are not full reviews.
