Midway Tightens Belt, Cuts Game Deals

Game publisher Midway has announced that it has “optimized” its game licensing, which will result in the cancellation of future games that aren’t build on what Midway considers its “core” properties. Although the company did not offer a list of game titles that will be discontinued, the company seems pretty sold on its Unreal and Mortal Kombat franchise, so it would also be safe to assume its partnerships with DC Comics and TNA Wrestling are still intact. The company also has licensing deals with Major League Baseball and the National Basketball Association; the status of those deals is not known at this time.

“The resolution of these licensing arrangements on good terms for the company is a very positive step as we continue to review Midway’s involvement with underperforming projects and focus on our core properties,” said Midway interim CEO Matt Booty, in a statement.

Buying its way out of non-core licensing agreements will increase Midway’s loss for the third quarter of 2008: the company had previously expected to lose about $0.49 per basic and diluted share, and now expects that number to jump up to $0.70 per share.

It comes with the Nintendo Switch OLED version and includes a lovely cover for both the dock and the two Joy-Cons, and is a must-have for any Zelda fan. Just be aware that this deal doesn't include the game, sadly, and is a Geek Squad refurbished version of the console, so you will have to buy the game separately if you want to play it. Even so, it's a great bit of memorabilia for you to grab.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 is an excellent budget option, and while it won't be able to play the latest games at max settings, it's still pretty good. Under the hood it has an RTX 3050, which is an entry-level GPU that will handle most free-to-play games relatively ok with lower graphical settings. It also comes with an AMD Ryzen 5 7535HS processor, which is a mid-range option and will handle most games just fine, plus will let you get some productivity work done as well. As for the screen, it's 15.6 inches big and runs at FHD at 120Hz refresh, which won't massively stress the RTX 3050, which is good.
