Pirate Bay reaches 10 million torrent upload mark

Despite the numerous legal battles that the site has been forced to fight, the Pirate Bay continues to live on. Not only has it survived, but it continues to thrive, as evidenced by the fact that it has reached the 10 million torrent upload mark, TorrentFreak reports.

However, not all of those torrents are active. Pirate Bay reportedly stated that “only” about 3,050,000 torrents are currently active on the site. The site’s moderators are often forced to take down certain torrents, as not every torrent is what it appears to be. Some are laced with malware and viruses, while others are planted by groups that work to combat piracy. Then there are torrents that are simply mislabeled by whoever uploaded them.

The Pirate Bay was allegedly unaware that the site had hit the 10 million mark, and was forced to update the site in order to accommodate the additional decimal.

The Pirate Bay has faced a litany of issues. In recent months, the site was forced to hop from one domain to the next, as multiple countries refused to allow the site to call its virtual borders home.

At this point, roughly 10,000 new torrents appear on Pirate Bay daily. So if you’re an anti-piracy warrior that has been hoping and waiting for the day that the Pirate Bay meets its demise, you might be waiting for quite a while.

Even so, considering the popularity of other torrent sites like Kickass.to, it’s unlikely that torrent sites will ever truly go away.

After all, if you’re aware of the story of Pandora’s Box, you know that once opened, it can’t be closed.

Intel’s big bet on efficient GPUs might actually work

Intel has a lot riding on its next-gen Battlemage graphics architecture, and a very early benchmark shows some promising signs for performance. An Intel Lunar Lake CPU packing a low-power integrated Battlemage GPU was reportedly spotted in the SiSoftware benchmark database. It boasts not only higher performance than Intel's Meteor Lake chips, but also much better efficiency.

User @miktdt on X (formerly Twitter) spotted the result, which appears to come from an early qualification sample of the HP Spectre x360 14. The benchmark picked up that the laptop was using a Lunar Lake CPU, which is said to come with the Xe2-LPG architecture, a lower-power version of Battlemage.
