Until today, Motorola had exclusive swam in the flip phone pool when it came to its foldable phone direction. While Samsung, Google, OnePlus and numerous others all have book-style foldables, Motorola had resisted the urge to join the form factor for more than half a decade.

This year though, at CES 2026, Motorola’s finally decided to dive head-first into the deeper waters of the traditional foldable phone with the introduction of Motorola Razr Fold.

This isn’t the handset’s full release though, with full specs still a few months away (Motorola has said it’ll be available in North America this summer), but here’s what we know for now.

Moto’s most premium device

The Razr Fold will be available in two colors, Pantone Blackened Blue and Pantone Lily White. We’re told the Blue features a woven vegan leather rear with a smooth, matte, durable finish.

Meanwhile the white is also woven vegan leather, but has a “smooth, modern luxury” feel – whatever that means. You’ll have to wait for our review to find out the difference between the two.

On the front there’s a 6.6-inch outer display. Unfold the device, and you’ll be treated to an 8.1-inch 2K, LTPO screen. There’s stylus support on the larger display, along with palm rejection technology to prevent unwanted input from your hand when using the stylus.

Round the back, a triple camera system consists of a 50MP Sony LYTIATM sensor, 50MP ultra-wide/macro, and a 50MP 3x periscope telephoto. There’s also Dolby Vision support for video recording.

There are two more snappers on the Razr Fold too, with a 32MP external selfie camera and a 20MP internal camera, for when you want to take a selfie with the phone unfolded.

With the slimming down of foldables in the past year, the hope is Motorola delivers a suitably slim Razr Fold. It says the phone has a “slim silhouette”, but doesn’t provide exact dimensions.

Whether it’s able to challenge the likes of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 (4.2mm when unfolded) and Honor Magic V5 (4.2mm) remains to be seen.

Motorola says the Razr Fold is the most premium device in its portfolio, and claims everything on the phone is top of the line. There won’t be any other flagship (folding or non-folding) that’ll come in above it.

While pricing hasn’t been revealed just yet, this positioning suggests we’ll be looking at a lofty price tag – possibly similar to that of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Pixel 10 Pro Fold.

When quizzed about why Motorola waited this long to launch a book-style foldable, a spokesperson told Digital Trends the firm has been “looking at the fold space for many years, but won’t launch something if the consumer experience will be compromised in any way. The technology and the market is ready.”

The timing is certainly interesting, with Apple heavily tipped to launch the iPhone Fold later this year. Is Motorola trying to get in before the rush? Perhaps.

Samsung lays out grim pricing prophecy for mobile and PC gear
Memory shortage could get worse in 2027 and last through 2028
Electronics, Phone, Mobile Phone

Samsung warned in April that the memory shortage could get worse in 2027. Three months later, the company’s outlook has become even more troubling for anyone planning to buy a new phone, laptop, gaming PC, or another device packed with memory and storage.

During its Q2 2026 earnings call, Samsung said demand is still running far ahead of supply and that orders it cannot fulfil this year are likely to spill into the next. The company now expects the shortage to persist through 2028, extending its earlier warning by another year.
