Google is rolling out its September 2026 Pixel Drop, bringing a handful of new features and quality-of-life improvements to Pixel phones and watches. It isn’t the biggest Feature Drop Google has ever released, with much of the heavy lifting coming from Android 17 QPR1, but it still includes some useful additions.

Your Pixel VIPs are getting a much-needed makeover

One of the more noticeable changes is a redesigned Pixel VIPs widget. It now makes it easier to call or message favourite contacts directly from the home screen, while a new floating navigation overlay lets users swipe around the bottom of the display to switch between VIPs. Notification badges also appear directly on the widget, making it easier to spot when someone important has tried to reach you.

Google is also expanding Scam Detection that flags likely scams in notifications from popular chat apps to additional languages and regions, including India. In the U.S., Pixel 6 and newer phones are also getting Scam Detection through Gboard, which can warn users when they start typing a response to a suspicious message in supported messaging apps.

Additionally, Pixel owners are also getting three new Pixel Themes inspired by Harry Potter: The Full-Cast Audio Editions, including wallpapers, icons, and sounds. Because apparently even your notification sounds deserve a little wizardry.

Pixel Watch gets some handy new tricks too

The September Pixel Drop isn’t leaving the Pixel Watch behind. Pixel Watch 3 and Pixel Watch 4 owners can now scroll through notifications using a one-handed press gesture, making it easier to interact with the watch when the other hand is busy. Pixel Watch 4 is also getting an updated raise-to-talk system designed to make Gemini activation more accurate and responsive.

Meanwhile, the wider September Pixel update includes Android 17 QPR1, with fixes spanning the camera, display, Bluetooth, system stability, gaming performance, and more. Google says the security update addresses more than 100 security issues across the Android and Pixel security bulletins.

It may not be the most dramatic Pixel Drop, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. With better access to important contacts, expanded scam protection, smarter Pixel Watch controls, and a pile of under-the-hood fixes, September’s Pixel update is basically Google doing some housekeeping while quietly improving the Pixel experience. Sometimes the boring updates are the ones that actually make a phone nicer to use.

The Oppo Find X10 is ridiculously stacked, and I haven’t even got to the cameras yet
Oppo Find X10 has two 200MP cameras and absolutely zero interest in playing it safe
Oppo Find X10

Oppo had me genuinely jaw-dropped with the Find X9 Pro and Ultra. Those phones showed just how far smartphone technology could go when a manufacturer decided to stop playing it safe. And now, we have the Find X10 series, with Oppo seemingly in no mood to take its foot off the accelerator.

For this first impressions review, I have the vanilla Find X10, not to be confused with its more capable sibling, the Pro Max. There is no Ultra model announced yet, but fingers crossed on a China-only variant. Pricing is around $1,400 and at that pricing you would normally except something capable enough - and boy, Oppo has already started flexing.
