Sony releases new images from Powers TV series

We have a few more months until Powers makes its debut on the PlayStation Network, but Sony Pictures Television has already begun teasing the first original series for PSN with a batch of photos featuring the stars and supporting cast.

The photos accompanied an announcement that the first footage from Powers will premiere October 11, 2014 during the show’s panel at New York Comic Con. Cast members Susan Heyward, Noah Taylor, Olesya Rulin, Logan Browning, and Eddie Izzard will be in attendance at the panel, along with Brian Michael Bendis, the co-creator of the Powers comic book series and the executive producer of the live-action series.

Powers follows two homicide detectives tasked with investigating crimes involving “Powers” — people with superhuman abilities. The series is set in a world where individuals with powerful abilities above and beyond those of normal humans are relatively common, and a special unit of law enforcement is charged with policing these super-powered heroes and villains.

District 9 star Sharlto Copley plays Detective Christian Walker and his partner, Det. Deena Pilgrim, is played by Susan Heyward.  The pair can be seen in the images released by Sony (posted here), as well as some of the supporting cast.

“No matter how many guns or super powers you throw into a TV show, no one is going to watch if they don’t give a damn about your main characters. Sharlto and Susan are my secret weapons, my super powers; dynamic talents that viewers will definitely give a damn about,” said showrunner and writer Charlie Huston in a statement accompanying the announcement and images.

Powers is scheduled to debut on the PlayStation Network in December 2014.
