Don’t live in fear, keep your Xperia Z3 safe from harm using one of these 8 cool cases

The Xperia Z3 is the latest super phone from Sony, and although it looks a lot like its predecessor, there are enough internal updates to make us want to buy one. It also looks gorgeous, but the metal frame is prone to picking up small dents or chips when dropped, and if you’re really unlucky, one or both the panes of glass could crack.

Why take the risk? Check out these cool Xperia Z3 cases and guard against disaster.

Sony Style Cover Window ($65)

This clever, official Sony cover offers basic protection front and back. The front incorporates a window to access some phone features, such as music player controls, incoming messages, and the camera. You can actually configure exactly what it does when opened and closed, by downloading specialist widgets and apps. It’s a slim cover with a premium feel and it has accurate cut-outs so you can still use the ports, including the magnetic charging system, and features like NFC – all with the case on. In addition to the turquoise and copper colors pictured it also comes in black and white.

Cruzerlite Bugdroid Circuit Case ($10)

You don’t need to break the bank to get a basic layer of protection. Ten bucks will get you one of these malleable, easy to fit TU cases from Cruzerlite. There are openings for all the ports and buttons except for the microSD and SIM card flap. The circuit design with the Android mascot on the back looks cool, plus it’s slightly translucent so you can still see the Sony logo, and the wide variety of colors mean you shouldn’t be stuck for choice.

Case Mate Barely There Case ($25)

If you demand a case with a svelte profile then you’ll appreciate this one from Case Mate. It is extremely slim and comes in plain black or clear varieties. There are precise cut-outs for the camera, ports, and buttons, as well as a bezel on the front to protect the screen if it’s placed face down. It is a very minimal case, but there is protection on all the corners, and it will safeguard the glass back against scratches.

Incipio PlexFolio Case ($30)

A polycarbonate shell keeps your Xperia Z3 safe and a fake leather cover wraps around folio style. The cover can also be folded back to act as a landscape stand. The inside is lined with soft microfiber to keep the screen clean and scratch-free. There are cut-outs for most of the ports, the controls, and the camera; but it’s not going to work with the magnetic charging port. It’s a slim solution, but you get pretty decent all-round protection.

Roxfit Slimline Book Case ($27)

Here’s a durable folio style case that is also sold through Sony’s website. There’s a slim, clear shell to snugly hold your Xperia Z3 snugly, while the cover wraps around it and opens like a book. It’s a perfect fit with all the cut-outs you need, and the cover can fold back to support a few different landscape viewing angles. There’s a pocket inside which provides space for a single credit card or ID, and you can chose the carbon finish in a few different colors or opt for a matte black variant.

Terrapin Gel Case ($6)

They don’t come much cheaper or more basic than this bendable TPU offering from Terrapin, but at this price what do you expect? The gloss exterior is slightly translucent and comes in black, red, or hot pink. There are good cut-outs for the camera and ports, but it’s not going to fit the magnetic charging dock. Unfortunately there are button covers for the power and volume keys when an opening would have worked better, but if you want something cheap that offers basic protection until a better case comes along, this could be it.

Nilkin Frosted Case ($12)

If you prefer a hard case for your Xperia Z3 this one is made of polycarbonate with a matte textured finish to add some grip. It’s pretty slim and has openings for full access to ports, features, and controls. It’s not going to provide rugged drop protection, but it should keep your Xperia Z3 safe from scuffs and scratches. A screen protector is included, though it’s not the best quality.

Krusell Kalmar Wallet Case ($50)

Here’s a real leather case that could also conceivably replace your wallet. It’s an unusual design that flips open vertically, exposing multiple pockets for credit cards, ID, and cash. The lining is soft microfiber to avoid any scratches and a magnet keeps the flap closed. The openings are very generous so there’s full access to your ports and buttons, as well as a cut-out for the camera.

That’s all the Xperia Z3 cases we have for now, but there are some good options from manufacturers like Trident coming soon so we’ll update this roundup when they’re available.

How to fix the ‘Not Registered on Network’ error on a Samsung Galaxy phone
Someone holding the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and the Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Unlike our phones, the SIM cards that connect them to a network have barely evolved over the last decade or so. This can sometimes mean you'll have trouble connecting to a network, even when the phone and the SIM card are seemingly just fine. If you are using a Samsung Galaxy or another Android phone or tablet with cellular connectivity, you might see an error on your phone that says "Not Registered on Network."
