HP’s Zbook 14 G2 and 15u G2 pack power for productivity

Today HP unveiled the two newest entries into their lineup of ultra-thin ultrabooks, the HP ZBook 14 G2 and 15u G2. These laptops are built from the ground up with the creative professional in mind, designed for those who need the most power they can get on the road.

HP is particularly amped to announce their introduction of HP Z Turbo Drive, which is said to double the read/write speeds of other SATA solutions thanks to a crafty bit of engineering that utilizes the PCI-E 16x slots opposed to traditional over-the-cable methods.

A standard Intel Core i5-5200U dual-core processor drives each model. Quicker Core i7 dual-cores are available as an option. RAM setups will start at the standard 4GB, but can be personally customized all the way up to 16GB, depending on your needs and price range.

The Zbook’s 14-inch and 15-inch flavors can both house an optional 10-point, 1080p touchscreen or a variety of standard panels ranging from 1366 x 768 to 1080p resolution. Each display is powered by Intel HD graphics by default, but the 14 G2 offers optional AMD FirePro M4150 graphics and the 15u G2 can be had with AMD FirePro M4170 graphics.

Wireless connectivity covers a range of optional adapters supporting 802.11ac Wi-Fi and even 4G connectivity alongside Bluetooth 4.0. Four USB 3.0 ports are standard on every model. Storage options include solid-state drives and mechanical drives with capacities as high as 500GB.

The ZBook 14 G2 will start at $1,249, with the 15u G2 rounding out the roster at $1,199. HP will start shipping both ZBooks by the beginning of next week.
