Gotcha! Porsche Cayman GT4 spotted in promotional video

Porsche has discreetly revealed the upcoming Cayman GT4’s muscular rear end in a promotional video that highlights the restoration of an early 901.

The GT4 is only visible for a few seconds but that’s enough time to confirm that it gains a sizable body-colored rear wing designed to provide a substantial amount of downforce. A model-specific suspension setup will make the track-focused GT4 lower than a stock Cayman while fender flares will make it noticeably wider. Large alloy wheels wrapped by ultra-sticky tires will add a finishing touch to the race-ready look.

Although Porsche is keeping official technical details under wraps for the time being, an earlier report indicates that power for the GT4 will come from a flat-six engine with a displacement of either 3.4- or 3.8-liters. The mill will send anywhere between 380 and 400 horsepower to the rear wheels, allowing the Cayman to reach 62 mph from a stop in a little over four seconds.

An enthusiast-friendly six-speed manual transmission will come standard and a quick-shifting six-speed dual-clutch PDK gearbox will be available at an extra cost. Upgraded brakes on all four corners will keep the cavalry in check.

The Porsche Cayman GT4 will greet the public for the first time next March at the Geneva Motor Show. Production will begin in Porsche’s Weissach, Germany, factory shortly after the show and the first cars are expected to land on dealer lots by the end of the summer.
