The new 2017 Audi R8 hits the track and revs the V10 in a new promo video

Exklusiv: Der neue Audi R8
Audi’s angular revamp of the 2017 R8 had us all excited for it, regardless of how its “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” approach split the room. Either way, cars are meant to be driven, and we all want to see it on the move, and now, happily, Audi has dropped a video of the new R8 in motion.

What doesn’t help things is that the R8 already looks fast even as it’s standing still, but this brief video does give us a great sense of its flow, as well as the teasing exhaust note as the now-standard 5.2-liter V10 spins faster and faster. This is the V10 plus model, as evidenced by its large rear spoiler, meaning the engine puts out 610 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque and can sprint from 0 to 60 in 3.2 seconds.

This new generation loses the weighty short throw shifter that clicked loudly as it was shunted into place, opting to solely offer a seven-speed S tronic gearbox with paddle shifters. These paddles are housed on a very driver-focused steering wheel, with many of the controls one would find strewn about the cabin centrally located in one area.

As great as this is to see, it just furthers our desire to see it in the skin once it’s unveiled at the Geneva Auto Show next week, though, if we’re being completely honest, we’re already itching to get our hands on one.

The front three-quarter view of a 2022 Rivian against a rocky backdrop.

Rivian has finally unveiled the R2, its long-awaited attempt at a more affordable electric SUV. The new vehicle may not be available just yet, but fans of Rivian's design aesthetics and feature set are already looking forward to being able to order the new car. The R2 is targeted at being a more affordable take on the electric SUV and will sit alongside the flagship-tier R1S.

Let's get this out of the way right now: The R1S is most likely going to be a better vehicle than the R2. Rivian isn't replacing the R1S with the R2 — it's releasing the R2 as a more affordable alternative, and there will be some compromises when buying the R2 over the R1S.

Don’t let the gimmicks fool you. The Ioniq 5 N is a serious track car
2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N drifting.

We’re finally getting to the fun part of automakers’ methodical quest to replicate their lineups with electric cars.

Performance versions of ordinary cars have been a staple of the auto industry for decades. But while we’ve already seen some variants of EVs boasting more power and more impressive stats — think Tesla Model S Plaid or Lucid Air Sapphire — the 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is the first to truly apply that format to an EV.
