See? We told you the Huayra wasn’t going anywhere soon. Founder and namesake of the exotic automaker Horacio Pagani has stated that a “hardcore” version of the coupe is on it’s way.
Speaking to Top Gear Magazine at the Geneva Auto Show, Mr. Pagani stated that a “gift” was coming to the Pagani fans around the world, finally relenting and stating that a special edition of its popular coupe is on its way.
It’s exciting news, but Pagani didn’t reveal any details as to what will make this Huayra any different. Currently, the coupe packs a Mercedes-AMG-sourced 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 that pumps out 720 horsepower and 740 pound-feet of torque to the rear wheels. The car is said to be capable of topping out at 231 mph, and can launch from 0 to 60 in 3.2 seconds. Where does one improve from there? Make a track-only version?
“I can think about a car like that,” Pagani responded, when pressed. “… Let me finish the upcoming project first, and then think about another one”
If you remember, only 100 engines were provided to Pagani for the initial Huayra run, and having that allotment used up is what brought it to a closed. For this special edition, far fewer will be offered, limiting the production to just 20 examples, and will only be offered to existing Pagani customers.
We don’t know at what stage of production this “hardcore” Huayra is, if it’s on paper yet at all, so we’ll have to sit tight for more info. In the mean time, we do have the Roadster to look forward to.
