Razer announces July 23-31 preorder for Mamba Tournament Edition mouse

At E3 last month, Razer revealed it would be updating one of its revered classic gaming peripherals, the Mamba gaming mouse. Bolstering an impressive new 16,000 DPI sensor and Razer’s own Adjustable Click Force Technology, the Mamba is set to release in two variations. The wired Tournament Edition is designed to reduce latency issues in competitive environments, while the wireless standard version, despite what its title implies, is actually less affordable than its wired counterpart. The Tournament Edition will go on sale for $90 while the wireless SKU will set buyers back a bit more at $150.

For eSports enthusiasts interested in the Tournament Edition specifically, Razer is briefly opening a preorder window for the device from July 23 through July 31. While no release date has been officially announced by the company, Razer stands by August as the earliest time frame for buyers to expect their shipments.

In the meantime, Best Buy and the online Razer store plan to start selling the Mamba in its tourney-centric flavor towards the end of August, while other participating retailers won’t have it in stock until sometime in September or October.

While both versions of the mouse don splashy Chroma lighting, illuminating a vibrant arrangement of colors, the Tournament Edition unfortunately omits the Adjustable Click Force Technology. Without this, the user lacks the autonomy necessary to adjust pressure settings for the right and left mouse buttons. Its exclusion, along with the rejection of wireless technology, is what makes the device $70 cheaper than its pricier “standard version” sibling.

The preorder window, however, only applies to the Tournament Edition — the online store neglects to even mention the standard Mamba mouse. Though we’ve caught no word of a release frame for the wireless edition, it currently seems unlikely for both versions to release synchronously.
