Samuel L. Jackson, Ryan Reynolds, and Gary Oldman to team up for Hitman’s Bodyguard

RoboCop 2014 oped Samuel L Jackson
Columbia Pictures
Millennium Films has lined up quite the trio for the upcoming action flick Hitman’s Bodyguard. Samuel L. Jackson, Ryan Reynolds, and Gary Oldman are all on board, reports THR, bringing together a wealth of previous action experience and box office success.

The story will follow Reynolds, one of the world’s best protection agents, and his disagreeable new client, a hit man he’s long been at odds with. Circumstances will force the two to join forces and get to The Hague in 24 hours. Meanwhile, Oldman will complicate their journey as the villain. Although Jackson’s role hasn’t been reported yet, it seems likely that he’ll portray Reynolds’ nemesis-turned-client, the hit man.

When it comes to casting, it would be hard to find a more exciting trio to star in the film. Not only is Oldman known for playing a villain (and doing it well), each of the actors knows his way around an action role. Reynolds’ resume includes roles in superhero flicks like Blade: Trinity and Green Lantern, and he’ll soon star in Deadpool.

Jackson brings an even more expansive body of work, and an action-heavy one at that. He’s known for the 2000 remake of Shaft, playing Nick Fury in numerous Marvel Cinematic Universe films, S.W.A.T., and more. Oldman and Jackson previously shared the screen in 2014’s Robocop, and the English actor has also starred in Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy and the Harry Potter series, among others.

The Hitman’s Bodyguard will be shot in the U.K., the Netherlands, and Bulgaria, with production set to begin on April 4, 2016. The film will be directed by Jeff Wadlow (Kick-Ass 2) and was written by Tom O’Connor. Avi Lerner, Trevor Short, Christine Otal, Jason Bloom, Boaz Davidson, Christa Campbell, and Lati Grobman are set to executive produce, while Mark Gill, John Thompson, Matt O’Toole, and Les Weldon will produce.

The first weekend in May has arrived, and Hulu fans should be happy to hear that there's a new lineup of movies to enjoy. Like most of the major streamers, Hulu debuts the majority of its library additions on the first of the month. But there will more movies released on Hulu throughout May.

Since the first weekend of May is traditionally timed around the opening of a superhero movie, our first choice this weekend is a comic book film that's celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. Our other two picks include Tom Hanks' directorial debut, and a generation-spanning drama that holds up three decades after its release.
The Mask (1994)
