Not only is Kansas City home to awesome barbecue and the resurgent Kansas City Chiefs (who have played a weak schedule, but that’s another story), but those lucky ducks are getting a second chance to sign up for Google Fiber. Google made the announcement via an official blog post by Rachel Hack, Google’s Kansas City Community Manager.

If you missed out the first time around, you can sign up for Google Fiber service starting today, assuming you live in Kansas City, Central Kansas City, or one of 180 “fiberhoods” that are slated to get the service. You can sign up for Google Fiber here.

Google says that if you sign up “over the next month,” service should be up, running and available by Spring of next year. What’s more, if you sign up between today and December 22, you’ll get a free Nexus 7 tablet, which will be available for you to pick up immediately from Google Fiber Space.

Here’s some more good news for Kansas City-ites. If you live in Kansas City, North, South Kansas City, Mo, Gladstone, Grandview and Raytown, you’ll be able to sign up for Google Fiber starting in March 2014. Google will make additional announcements sometime early next year.

In the meantime, Google will be hitting up Google+ and Facebook on November 26 at 3 p.m. Central time to answer people’s questions pertaining to Google Fiber sign-ups. You can check out Google Fiber’s pricing plans here.

You can now video chat with up to 32 people on Google Duo
Google Duo 32 person video calls

Google is once again hiking up the number of people you can video chat with on Duo, only three months after updating the limit to 12 from eight in March. On Google Chrome for desktops, users can now have as many as 32 people in a single group Duo call.

The new 32-person Duo calls are restricted to Google’s own browser since they leverage the latest issue of a technology called WebRTC for offering end-to-end encryption, which is only available on the latest versions of Chrome. Google hasn’t commented on whether it plans to eventually roll it out for other browsers like Firefox yet. We’ve reached out to the company for more information and we’ll update the story when we hear back.

If you're looking for a high-end Chromebook in 2020, there's no shortage of devices to choose from. You can pick Google's own Pixelbook, the newer Pixelbook Go, or one from another manufacturer like Samsung or HP.

But never, until now, has there been a true competitor to the Pixelbook. More recently, though, the company announced the new Galaxy Chromebook, priced at $1,000 to match the Pixelbook's price. And, with its beautiful 4K OLED screen, this new Chrome OS 2-in-1 has more than what it takes to go up against Google's own Pixelbook.

Get the Google Pixel Slate 2-in-1 tablet for an incredible $250 less on Amazon
Google Pixel Slate Hands-on

Google has created two very successful operating systems for portable devices: The Chrome OS, designed for Chromebooks, and the ubiquitous Android for tablets and smartphones. Over the years it has gradually tried to mesh the two together by creating laptop/tablet hybrids, like the Google Pixel Slate. This 2-in-1 device boasts the mobility of a tablet and the wider functionality of a laptop, wrapped in a premium package that’s meant to compete with Apple’s iPad Pro and Microsoft’s Surface Pro.

You can get the Pixel Slate with an Intel Core m3 processor for a massive $250 (31%) off on Amazon. Pay $549 instead of its usual price of $799. And if you order now you have a chance to get $50 off instantly via the Amazon Rewards Visa card, which brings the price down even further, to $499.
