YouTube to Support 1080p HD Videos

youtube_logo YouTube says starting next week it will support the same high-resolution video that can now be seen on flat screen TVs.

The online video unit of Google Inc. said Thursday it will support video playback in the full high-definition format known as 1080p, upgrading from the current 720p.

After engineers tested its system, YouTube spokesman Chris Dale said the company is not worried about infrastructure problems or higher costs associated with supporting bulkier files.

Videos uploaded from regular users will still have a 10-minute limit, although the maximum file size will likely get a boost from 2 gigabytes.

Videos that had already been uploaded at 1080p will be automatically re-encoded to play back at the higher resolution.

iOS 27.2 now lets the Find My app track Apple TV 4K remotes, officially called the Siri Remote. Finally, you can hunt down a lost one like a missing iPhone.

Apple’s next big OLED upgrade could appear on the iMac

The iMac is overdue for a refresh, and an OLED screen could be Apple's next big gamble.

Earlier this month, Apple introduced the all-new iMac. But if you look at it closely, there isn’t a lot that you could call “new,” per se. On the updated desktop, the most notable upgrades are the M6 chip and improved wireless connectivity, alongside the promise of better AI performance. But it appears that the machine, which hasn’t received a design refresh or any other meaningful upgrade in years, could finally get its due.

In the latest edition of Bloomberg’s Power On podcast, Mark Gurman mentioned that Apple is looking at an OLED screen upgrade for the iMac, but it could take a while before such a product hits the shelves. “Yeah, that would sell really well, but they are looking at an OLED iMac, that I can tell you as well, but I still think that’s a few years away. Okay, so maybe that’s the next big change,” Gurman said while discussing potential improvements to Apple’s desktop computer.

Google's Gemini Notebook just received another major set of features that students around the globe will likely find useful. The company is opening up access to hundreds of textbooks, including titles from India's S Chand Publishing, OpenStax, and Open Textbook Library. Better yet, all the books in this new catalog are available for free. Considering how expensive textbooks can get, I can see why students would appreciate this one.
