HydraCoach Intelligent Water Bottle If you already have an to wake you up in the morning, an online task list to remind you what to do throughout your work day, and your smartphone set to remind you when to take out the trash at night, a water bottle that tells you when to drink water really doesn’t sound that absurd.

The HydraCoach Intelligent Water Bottle does just that, metering out your recommended water consumption for a day and encouraging you meet it by drinking regularly at a healthy pace throughout the day.

It’s essentially a water bottle with a computer right in, allowing you to track everything from basic figures (like how much you’ve slurped down in a day,) to much more complex stats (like how many ounces per hour you’ve taken in). You can even get it to calculate a personal hydration goal for the day based on your weight, and have the bottle show you how close you are to achieving it.

How does it work? The computer calculates how much water comes out of the bottle using an impeller assembly that measures the amount of fluid that passes as you drink it through a straw.

HydraCoach sells the Intelligent Water Bottle for a surprisingly affordable $30, which isn’t all that much more than a comparable polycarbonate bottle from Nalgene. More information be found online.

Most conventional firearms come with serial numbers and leave unique microscopic markings on bullets and cartridge cases when fired. Investigators can use these clues to trace weapons or connect them to crimes. However, 3D-printed firearms, commonly called ghost guns, present a different challenge. They can be manufactured without serial numbers, and their unconventional construction can make traditional forensic analysis more difficult.

Now, researchers in Australia may have found another way to trace these weapons, using clues hidden in the plastic they're made from.
