Bargain hunters can now start shopping for Black Friday deals, as the offers have arrived early this year. There are discounts on a wide variety of devices, including smartphones, tablets, laptops, and many more. If you’re in the market for an action camera, you should take a look at the Amazon Black Friday deals, which include an offer for the GoPro Hero8 Black at $299 after a $50 discount from its original price of $349.

The GoPro Hero8 Black follows up on the introduction of the HyperSmooth electronic image stabilization technology in the GoPro Hero7, which eliminated the need for a gimbal, with a physical redesign that adds an integrated mount, so you no longer need a mounting frame for the action camera. The GoPro Hero8 rolled out HyperSmooth 2.0 for compatibility with all frame rates and resolutions, as well as new accessories named Mods that further expand the device’s capabilities.

The lens of the GoPro Hero8 was also improved to be more impact-resistant, and it now offers Narrow, Linear, Wide, and SuperView options. The action camera is also capable of livestreaming in 1080p and capturing time lapse videos even at night in up to 4K quality. Another fun feature is TimeWarp 2.0, which creates a stabilized motion time lapse video with the speed based on the amount of camera motion, and you can switch between real time and hyperlapse with a tap on an on-screen button for dramatic effect.

Another minor but important change is the new side door, which will allow you to swap the camera’s battery or card without having to remove it from wherever it’s attached.

The GoPro Hero8 Black is not the latest model of GoPro’s action cameras, as that distinction goes to the recently released GoPro Hero9 Black. However, it remains a very capable one that’s packed with features. It’s already a steal at its original price of $349, so it’s an even better deal after a $50 discount on Amazon that lowers the action camera’s price to $299. I bought the Kodak Charmera partly because I wanted a portable digital camera, and partly because I wanted a pretty little collectible. The Charmera is sold as a blind box, so you do not know which version you are getting until the box is opened. There are multiple retro Kodak-style designs, plus a transparent secret edition that looks like the one everyone would want.

I had the shopkeeper pick my box for better luck, and it worked out. I got the yellow variant, which is inspired by Kodak's original 80s disposable camera. The transparent one is definitely the fun collector’s piece, but the yellow model feels like the proper Kodak version. It looks like a tiny toy camera that escaped from a souvenir shop, found a keyring, and now hangs around wherever you go.

After years of sitting on its hands, Google appears to have remembered it owns one of the best photo editing apps on mobile. Snapseed 4.0 is now rolling out to Android, bringing the platform up to speed after a stretch of iOS exclusivity that left Android users watching from the sidelines.

The story starts last June, when Google quietly broke Snapseed out of its long dormancy with a significant 3.0 update for iPhone. It was a surprise move that suggested the company was serious about the app again. Google then confirmed at the start of this year that Android wouldn't be left behind for long, and true to that word, the Play Store listing has now been updated to reflect version 4.0 — skipping straight past 3.0 for Android users and landing both platforms on the same version simultaneously.
