EA’s Tiger Woods 07 Hits Retailers

Electonic Arts EA Sports has announced that Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 video game has shipped for the Playstation 2, Xbox, Sony PSP, and Windows PCs, and is available on store shelves right now. Got an Xbox 360? Don’t get your freaky polo shirt in a bunch: your version is due October 17.

Tiger Woods 07 enables uplayers to compete available 21 of the worlds top golfers, including Tiger Woods (imagine that!), Vijay Singh, Anika Sorenstam, and John Daly. The game features 21 courses, including new grounds at the Four Seasons Resort Aviaa, the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island, Riviera Country Club, the National, and The K Club. A new Team Tour mode enables players to create a team and chase Tiger as you vie for the EA Cup, and tournaments against the pros might just win players the FedEx Cup.

The game also utilizes new Universal Facial Capture (UCAP) technology to model the likenesses and emotions of golfers Tiger Woods, Chris DiMarco, Mike Weir, Colin Montgomerie, and Luke Donald.

Tiger Woods 07 carries a suggested price of $39.99 for Xbox, PS2, PSP, and PC, but the Xbox 360 edition will be priced at $59.99.

The fate of physical game discs seems to be set in stone, with an all-digital library becoming increasingly inevitable. Microsoft, though, may at least give Xbox owners a way to bring their shelves full of physical games along for the journey.

A leaked Microsoft roadmap sent to game publishers details the planned rollout of Xbox’s Disc-to-Digital program alongside a much larger backwards-compatibility push. The document reportedly targets August for general availability, October for the full launch of original Xbox games on PC, and a gradual Xbox 360 rollout beginning in 2027.
